It's a real shame to see Hackaday report something I know about so poorly : hackaday.com/2022/12/30/robo… @Jenny_Alto As someone who directed BBC News daily from 1997 to 2007 - remote controlled cameras were the norm there too, and had been for decades before.

For £16 + P&P + VAT, the fixed price DCA55 out-of-warranty repair service can be a bargain! We take the rough with the smooth. Here we had a blown-up, and well used unit from 2001. Repaired, new leads, new front overlay, updated firmware, cleaned and fully tested.

Anyone can see via Wikipedia when the framebuffer was invented, or how Clark founded SGI, or how Catmull invented texture mapping, or how @alvyray was pivotal in the idea of the paint programs we know today. But have there ever been interviews focusing on the contemporary *tech*?

NEW VIDEO! A tour of the excellent 2022 Retro Computer Festival at the @computermuseum, featuring some amazing rare items -- a working Quantel Paintbox, a Kenbak-1 and Space Invaders on the Mk14, just to name a couple! Enjoy, and please share. :) youtu.be/T0sHJ7tj_OA

It's nearly RetroFest 2022 - and another taster of what you'll see (and likely never see anywhere else!) - a Whitechapel MG-1 (@tstepleton), a Microbee (@BinaryDinosaurs), a Famicom being a computer (@RetroBC_Pete) and a giant Quantel (@DextersTechLab) - computinghistory.org.uk/det/…

Does anyone have a Chinon FZ-357 floppy drive going spare? Broken is fine. I need the plastic front faceplate for an Amiga drive. RTs appreciated, feel free to DM.

My son asked me today to make a "throbbing" LED circuit without a micro. Here it is using 3 transistors, 7 resistors and 3 capacitors.

Still more MAME work-in-progress for the #Quantel DPB-7001 "Digital Paintbox". Thanks again to @DextersTechLab for flaying open his own DPB to dump (nearly) every chip, and loaning me a dead-tree version of the service manual, with its schematics! youtu.be/VjyciUO1bx8

Ah, the smell of smoke on Bonfire Night! We can't promise fireworks at the Retro Computer Festival, but wouldn't be surprised if at least one machine releases its magic smoke. Come along on the 5th (or 6th!) and enjoy the festive smell of burning RIFAs computinghistory.org.uk/det/…

From MTV to NFT to TikTok, the Quantel Paintbox's influence is hidden just under the surface. To be revealed in a new documentary.... #Quantel #quantelpaintbox

Hands up if you've ever seen a Motorola DSP56001 in the SLAM package. "Single layer aluminium metallised". I'm looking for the pinout for these - boosts/RTs appreciated

Does anyone have any documentation for the Eseye Hera200? Looks like it's an Arduino (Atmega32U4) and a GSM Shield mated together on one PCB? (Again boosts and RTs appreciated)
