I’m quoted in The New York Times today about @1virginmartini’s second marathon reading of The Bell Jar

Everyone is always rooting for you. Your parents want you to be a great son. Wife wants you to be a great husband. Your boss wants you to be a slam dunk hire. Every first date you’ve ever been on they’ve been rooting for you to get laid. Every time you started to tell a joke people hoped it would have a hilarious punch line. Your proximity to anyone is a reflection of themself, meaning the deck is never stacked against you, and your failures are completely your own

Incredible parenting
So my teenage son helped me art direct the photo below (with the greentips) and the entire time he kept looking at the book.
And I'm like, Dude ,you can read it if you want.
So this morning I go into his room and he's getting ready for school.
And he's putting Mixtape Hyperborea into his backpack, and I'm all like, Uhhh, what are you doing?
And he's all, "I've been reading it and it's really good dad!"
And I'm like, That's cool, but why are you taking it to school??
He didn't answer but I assumed it was so he could show his friends (and maybe his teachers) this cool new book he found.
So then I asked him, you know that table of "banned books" at every bookstore? Those books aren't actually banned. We know this because they're on sale at Barnes and Noble and they call them "banned books" as a marketing ploy, but THAT book is actually dangerous and you can take it to school but for fucks sake don't show it to your commie english teacher.
Anyway, the kid decided to hide his power level and leave the book at home. But he's in his room reading it right now.
I'll read it when he's done👍

I was also rooting for you. Rooting for you that this is an original thought. An original post. But then I realized it is not. It’s a post by @AdemLuz. Word for word.

The New York Times and every other propaganda publication are calling the Monday's Israeli election the most consequential of our time.
Here's why it doesn't matter at all.
