Finally out. Our study on the amination network is published. In this work, we investigate and engineer the E. coli amine metabolism by employing growth coupled selection in a glutamate auxotroph strain.

Finally out! We #evolved a new fructose utilization mode for increasing the oxPPP flux in C. glutamicum. As proof-of-principle, we exploited the extra NADPH generated to increase L-lysine biosynthesis. Great example of ALE for #biotechnology!

It's shocking to think how much we lost in the last year. I've never had the pleasure to work with Dan but we spoke after Arren's demise. In that moment of shared grievance I met a wise and gentle man. You will be missed.

Now it has 2 strong supports and a highly diverse collection of stones to keep it company. His friends and colleagues painted them on the farewell ceremony in Berlin.

The Reductive Glycine Pathway, a synthetic pathway for efficient CO2 fixation, has been found in Desulfovibrio as the endogenous pathway that allows autotrophy.
Probably the first pathway that has been engineered before being discovered in Nature.
