The first mission of the Church is to help people be attentive to the profound questions of life: those concerning our origin and our destiny, as well as those concerning the meaning of love and suffering. The logic of profit at all costs and the manipulation of information risk exerting undue pressure on people to conform to a lifestyle centred on the consumption of material goods, but our hearts are made to look upwards. #GeneralAudience

The Christian community is not a refuge into which we withdraw in order to protect ourselves from our age. On the contrary, like the cathedrals of old, the Church is a place of welcome, respect, revelation, and meaning for everyone. The strength of a living Church lies in welcoming those on the peripheries who already have a place in her heart; welcoming those who are far away but in reality are already near; welcoming the stranger, in whom Christ is already knocking at the door. #ApostolicJourney #France vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

Cardinal Tagle, in the homily during @FultonSheen beatification: "During an audience, Pope Pius XII once asked Bishop Sheen how many conversions he could claim. He answered the Pope, “I really haven’t counted, in order not to have the temptation to believe they were mine.” He added that he saw himself as “simply a porter who is sometimes able to lead people to the open door of the house of God. I have had some success as a porter.” Blessed are you, porter to the door of God’s house!" (Photo OSV)

Dear friends, I would like to share a special message with you. After several years of private discernment, I would like to announce to you with great reverence and care that, with the blessing of my religious community the Sisters of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT) and the Archbishop of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, his Excellency Jeffrey S. Grob, I am officially entering into a time of public discernment of the foundation of a new religious community, Friends of the Bridegroom.    The pathway here has been richly blessed by the wisdom and guidance of my spiritual director, my superiors, the competent ecclesiastical authorities, and so many dear friends and advisors.    As many of you know, my years of work in the area of healing, as well as my work with religious sisters, general superiors, bishops, and priests have allowed me to see and experience the need and ache for the ongoing healing and renewal of our clergy and religious sisters.    For the past three years, I have served as the Executive Director of Friends of the Bridegroom with Fr. John Burns. Friends of the Bridegroom is an apostolate that seeks to renew the Church through the renewal of religious life and the priesthood. It has been a profoundly blessed time, and the Lord has continually stirred a desire in all of us in the apostolate to discern the foundation of a new community of priests, religious sisters, and laity who would work toward this important renewal. During this time of public discernment, the Friends of the Bridegroom ministry and my public activities connected with this discernment will remain under the pastoral care and oversight of Archbishop Jeffrey Grob, Archbishop of Milwaukee. I am deeply grateful for his willingness to accompany and guide this discernment during this important time.   I am truly grateful for the support of so many people over the years and I continue to count on your prayers and support as we discern this very important step. During this time of public discernment, I remain a Sister of good standing with SOLT and will continue to wear the SOLT Sisters habit.    Once again, I extend my tremendous gratitude to Sister Mary Aloysius of Jesus, SOLT General Sister Servant, her General Council, and Archbishop Jeffrey Grob.    Please pray for the renewal of the priesthood and religious life. I don’t know a single conservative who has a problem with Dorothy Day. The only people who I’ve ever met who’ve had a problem with her are wealthy white liberals.
NEW: The Vatican has approved the first portion of Dorothy Day’s canonization file, moving the Catholic Worker founder a step closer to sainthood under the first American pope — a prospect that unsettles conservatives wary of her connection to democratic socialism and ardent opposition to every American war of her lifetime. thelettersfromleo.com/p/doro…

Evil cannot be overcome with evil. On earth as in heaven, love is the law of life and the way of redemption, the way of the crucified Messiah. In opposition to the false realism that rearms minds, words, and nations, Catholic culture must today offer the realism of mercy, according to which there can be no enemies. Everyone, even our adversaries, is a brother or sister to be looked in the eye and encountered in truth. #PastoralVisit #Rimini

The world does not need an artificial intelligence that diminishes humanity; rather, it needs human intelligence enlightened by wisdom, political authority guided by conscience and technological innovation directed by charity. Only then will artificial intelligence become not a rival to humanity but a servant of the common good.

From the Canaanite woman we learn humility and determination. Thanks to her faith, we learn that God’s table is set for everyone and that no one is left merely with crumbs, because each person has his or her own place with the Father. In the light of this faith, inequalities, discrimination and barriers that trample on the dignity of too many of God’s sons and daughters become unbearable. #GospelOfToday (Mt 15: 21-28)

The great modern heresy is that too many Christians allow their politics, finances, comforts, lifestyles, & pleasures to inform their faith, rather than the other way around. There is a lack of a genuinely Christian worldview in our modern understanding of Christianity.
