1/ DNC Exclusive, follow-up 🧵 After our report, #nonkyc_exchange reopened $XTM withdrawals, but only after cutting every holder's balance by 50.74%. They've decided to pass their losses on to their users. They also blocked us after we asked the questions in that thread. We hope everyone watching takes note of how this exchange responds to scrutiny. Here's what they told users, and what they left out 👇
1/ DNC Exclusive 🧵 @nonkyc_exchange has frozen all $XTM deposits, withdrawals and trading, and delisted the token. Holders are locked out of their funds, with no timeline and no clear explanation. Here's what we know, what users are reporting, and the questions NonKYC needs to answer 👇

If you're running a Pirate Chain Treasure Chest full node, please shut it down, and immediately install the following mandatory update to v6.0.14 which patches the inflation bug and restores the blockchain back to block 4,176,944 (October 14 at 19:55:14 UTC), immediately prior to last week's inflation bug exploit. This mandatory update will require a blockchain reindex. Once complete, you can continue using Pirate Chain normally. For more details, please read the full announcement.
Mandatory Update: Pirate Chain v6.0.14 is Now Available The Pirate Chain team is pleased to announce that our development team has given the all-clear for the community to resume normal activity once the following mandatory update is completed. All users, Treasure Chest and CLI node operators, miners, pools, exchanges, and service operators must suspend operations on previous versions and update to version 6.0.14 (or greater) immediately. Do not continue running any older versions. Download Links: GitHub: github.com/PirateNetwork/pir… Pirate Chain Website: piratechain.com/wallets/#ful… Re-Index & Bootstrap Instructions: Please note that this update will trigger an automatic, one-time full chain re-index on first start, followed by a wallet scan to reconstruct shielded balances. Please be patient and do not interrupt the process, as this can take some time to complete. To speed up recovery: Users can select the built-in “Reindex and Rescan with Bootstrap” option. Version 6.0.14 utilizes a pre-indexed bootstrap to shorten recovery time and handle the wallet rebuild automatically. Incident Summary & Network Consensus: On October 14, an attacker combined two validation flaws to mint approximately 39.82 million counterfeit ARRR in the transparent coinbase pool, temporarily inflating the supply by ~20%. Both flaws have been patched in record time, closing the exploit path that allowed unauthorized coins to be created and spent, and preventing any permanent economic damage to the chain and its users. Through consensus among the community, node operators, pools, exchanges, and dPoW notaries, the chain has been rolled back to block 4,176,944 (October 14 at 19:55:14 UTC), immediately prior to the exploit: • Exploit Rejection: Version 6.0.14 causes nodes to automatically reject the exploit block and all subsequent blocks built on it. • dPoW Notarizations: The dPoW notaries have agreed to resume notarizing this corrected chain. The old branch will receive no further dPoW notarizations. • Supply Integrity: The counterfeit coin issuance has been completely removed, and all transactions and balances return to their pre-exploit state. Pirate Chain's maximum supply remains strictly at 200M ARRR. We also identified and resolved several minor bugs related to the P2P networking layer. All changelogs from release-notes-6.0.10 onwards are available to read here: github.com/PirateNetwork/pir… Our sincere thanks to the community for its patience and composure throughout this incident, and to our development team for its outstanding response under pressure. We also extend our gratitude to all team members, exchanges, pools, and partners who assisted in containing the incident so promptly and successfully. A comprehensive technical postmortem detailing the exploit, the sequence of events, and our response and recovery measures is currently being compiled and will be published in due course.

Actually I continued HODLing my ARRR the entire time for the past 6+ years, and never sold my coins - they were paper gains only.

Not always - keep in mind that in bitcoin:native's earliest days it was only known by a very few people, and didn't even have a price. ARRR was created years later and most of the cryptoverse still doesn't even know it exists. Innovation and adoption takes time.

We'll agree to disagree - I am simply sharing my honest analysis of the situation - I am neither delusional nor misleading anyone. Pirate Chain is obviously a much higher risk asset than monero:native. We've never recommended our subscribers to hold ARRR at a higher allocation than Monero (which is my top holding by far).

We never claim to have invented bitcoin:native, but several of us bought it and mined it at very low prices (I did both when it was under $1.) I also traded my BTC stash into monero:native when it was under $1. As unbiased & objective analysts, we take no sponsorships from any crypto project. I also warned our TCV subscribers about DERO & Equilibria years ago and we quickly removed them from our crypto portfolio when problems came to light (and neither of them were ever a large allocation in our portfolio).

Again, bitcoin:native had an inflation bug in its early days, the nodes & community voluntarily applied the bug fix and rolled back the transactions, and it moved on to become something great. I believe that @PirateChain will do similarly. There is nothing wrong with finding value & utility in another form of private digital cash in addition to monero:native. Both coins are useful, and in the future if something ever happens to Monero, I will be very thankful for Pirate Chain as a backup. I'm confident it will survive this attack.

Most of those who bought Pirate Chain during the heights of the pump from 5-6 years ago are gone, and only the true believers are holding it right now, similar to when monero:native crashed after the Binance delisting (or when bitcoin:native was declared "dead" in the past during the bear market)

I was the first analyst to warn our subscribers about DERO over a year and half ago before it collapsed, and I have been sharing updates on Pirate Chain in real time.

Incorrect - many merchants accept @PirateChain, as seen on arrrmada.com/ Our own financial newsletter accepts ARRR at CryptoVigilante.io/subscribe, featuring the top crypto analysts in the world who have adopted & charted bitcoin:native since early 2011 and monero:native since 2015.

More helpful info on the upcoming Pirate Chain blockchain rollback - the inflation bug in @PirateChain mirrors Bitcoin's early history (keep in mind that Bitcoin had its own rollback in the early days after its own inflation bug, and look where it is now!): xitter.cf/anarchy_dot_gov/status…
Its saying no centralized authority has the ability to roll back the chain. There is no switch to be flipped. An update for full nodes will be released and all operators are being asked to update to it. This will effectively roll back the chain since all operators seem to agree to the change. The same way Bitcoin rolled back the chain.

I personally am not panic selling ARRR as a result of this FUD, since the @PirateChain team caught this bug quickly and is working hard to resolve it. The other good news is that @nonkyc_exchange quickly noticed the issue and immediately halted ARRR deposits yesterday. In the meantime, sit tight, and don't move any ARRR for the next few days until after the team announces a path forward for the resolution/bug fix.
Pirate Chain Import Exploit Update On 14 October 2026, a transaction validation vulnerability in Pirate Chain source code was discovered which allowed the unauthorized creation of approximately 39.8 million ARRR, increasing the supply by approximately 20%. The newly minted funds were immediately transferred into the Sapling shielded pool. NonKYC subsequently identified suspicious deposits and acted quickly to restrict the associated account and prevent withdrawals. Due to the nature of shielded transactions, the full subsequent movement of the funds cannot be traced, but we believe activity related to the unauthorized issuance was otherwise restricted primarily to on-chain transactions. The exploit combined two validation failures bypassing the issuance check and incorrect interpretation of the output scripts. Evidence does not indicate any compromise of notary keys or the cryptography underlying Pirate Chain's shielded transactions. As a voluntary precaution, dPoW operators have collectively agreed to temporarily suspend notarizations, while exchanges and mining pools have been asked to voluntarily pause operations as a recovery plan is developed. Because Pirate Chain is decentralized, it is not possible to freeze the network or unilaterally rollback its blockchain history. Pirate Chain remains operational, but we ask that all users temporarily refrain from sending or moving funds. The Pirate Chain team is currently investigating the event and developing solutions in collaboration with other communities. Further technical details and recovery instructions will be provided in the forthcoming post-mortem.

We regret to inform you that an exploit in the new transparent layer related to the Ironwood turnstile for supply accounting has been identified. The developers will be rolling the chain back to 14 October 2026, 1:00 PM Pacific Time. All exchanges have been notified and are temporarily suspending deposits and withdrawals. Please refrain from sending or receiving funds and avoid using your wallet in the meantime. We appreciate your patience while we resolve the issue. Our developers are already working on a fix. Further details will follow once the rollback is complete and an investigation has concluded.

I personally do not use nor recommend hardware wallets, but if you do choose to use a hardware wallet, then you still need to be extra paranoid about it, due to supply chain security breaches. Instead, I generate and secure my wallet seeds offline in a cryptographically verified secure Linux environment and take responsibility for my own opsec rather than drawing attention and taking the additional risk of using such obvious crypto-specific hardware devices (like Ledger, Trezor, etc.). Another option is a @GrapheneOS device with @cakewallet, their Cupcake dedicated signer on a second GrapheneOS device, and @mullvadnet VPN paid in monero:native . However, if I ever hypothetically purchased a hardware wallet (I personally have zero plans to ever to do this), then I would only purchase one from the manufacturer directly - preferably in person with cash or Monero at a legitimate crypto conference, and without sharing my personal information. In general I recommend following Mr. P's opsec recommendations in our TCV newsletters which will help people become more closely aligned with best practices for preserving one's security, privacy, and autonomy in the digital realm. XRP is a centralized shitcoin with horrible tokenomics - (100 billion token supply held by insiders who dump on noobs) and we actually recommend against investing in it whatsoever. In fact, I've profited from short selling XRP.

Urgent: Pirate Chain Full node (Treasure Chest & CLI) Update required before 3rd October 2026. A mandatory daemon update is required for users of Treasure Chest full node or CLI node. Please make sure to update to version 6.0.7 before the Ironwood activation on October 3rd 2026. An issue was identified and has been patched. User funds remain safe. If you are using Lite node, Edge Wallet, or Stashi wallet you don't need to do anything. Follow the update for those wallets when available. Wallet download links can be found below.

0.06 BTC buys 9 whole Monero. There are more bitcoins than XMR. Bitcoin is an open ledger, slow, expensive. Monero is private by default. Digital cash. If you knew how they laughed at Bitcoin when only “criminals” used it, you would already understand what you are looking at. Privacy cannot lose. Hold it. Join the communities. Spend it. Use it. Exchange it. That is what they hate. They wanted you to own nothing. Use this and they own nothing on you.
