Reducing homelessness is actually quite straightforward.

“Sacramento is willingly doing more than its fair share to address California’s housing shortage in part because it is forced to by the refusal to build in cities like San Francisco.”
“But that doesn’t mean the state should let San Francisco get away with doing less.”
EDITORIAL: While SF drags its feet on adopting basic housing reforms, Sacramento advanced one of the country’s most ambitious pro-housing policies.
And SF wonders why more & more people are moving to Sac? SF must do its part to address our housing crisis. sfchronicle.com/opinion/edit…

Experiences like the below dehumanizing comments is why we founded Sustainable Growth Yolo.
It was a truly awful experience to watch and the council did end up killing the proposed mixed use apartment complex directly across the street from UC Davis.

The media is finally starting to report Trump’s statements for what they are: Fascist. He’s using Hitler’s own words about “vermin” and immigrants “poisoning the blood” of Americans. He’s calling for mass detention of migrants and threatening to come after his political enemies and seek retribution if re-elected. He must never be. America’s future is on the line. We all must do our part and vote.

Trump knows what he’s doing when he calls his enemies “vermin” in his speeches and online. He’s dehumanizing them. This has happened to my community twice in my lifetime: once during World War II, and again during the pandemic. It is so dangerous, and Trump knows it. He’s preparing his base to do things that you can’t do to other humans, only to subhumans. Be warned. Be vigilant.

Building more housing benefits poor people the most.

Don't underestimate the power of your #vote. #Voting is not the only ingredient for determining a humane, just path forward. However, it is a key ingredient. Together, we can make a difference. #EqualVotingRights #Progress #VotingRIghts democracydocket.com/opinion/…

Like so many I cannot stop thinking about last night and the incredible victories we saw across the country. The victories that once again show that attacking abortion and attacking trans people are not just terrible, harmful policies but also losing strategies.
Amazing news tonight from Woodland Unified School District in California.
A parent group successfully submitted enough signatures to recall an anti-trans school board member.
This new tactic could reverse gains by Moms For Liberty in the state.

Dems took full control of the Virginia Legislature — avoiding an abortion ban.
Dems reelected their Governor in Kentucky.
Ohio enshrined abortion rights in their constitution.
It’s all a firm rejection of extremism & an embrace of the American values of democracy & freedom.

California housing is unaffordable because we haven’t built enough of it for 40 years.
If we relax zoning and make multifamily housing by-right in the places people want to live, housing prices will come down.

The data is also clear: policies that remove dangerous weapons from those who pose a danger to others help keep people safe.
At the California DOJ, we’re dedicated to upholding, defending, and enforcing California’s vital domestic violence and gun safety laws.

Today, our Office of Gun Violence Prevention released a new report on domestic violence involving firearms—and the data is clear: when an abuser has access to a firearm, it endangers the safety and lives of those around them. oag.ca.gov/news/press-releas…
