Update: All lanes in both directions are OPEN. The Aliso Creek Rest Area is closed due to a power outage.
Reminder that the 5 remains closed in both directions in the Camp Pendleton area. Northbound lanes are closed at Harbor Drive in Oceanside and southbound lanes are closed at Basilone Road due to the #HendersonFire.

As of 1:40 PM, smoke is affecting visibility along both sides of the freeway.
I-5 remains FULLY CLOSED in both directions between Vandergrift Blvd. and Basilone Rd.
Avoid the area and use alternate routes
My team and I are tracking active fires between San Diego and Orange County.
Interstate 5 is currently closed in both directions between Vandergrift Boulevard and Basilone Road.
Please stay alert and follow instructions from emergency personnel. My office will share updates as more information becomes available.

🔥 HENDERSON FIRE
⛔ FULL FREEWAY CLOSURES REMAIN IN EFFECT on Interstate 5 in both directions through Camp Pendleton.
⚠️ AVOID THE AREA! Significant traffic delays are expected. Interstate 15 is the only alternate freeway route.
Please monitor the Henderson fire if you’re in North San Diego County, Camp Pendleton, or Orange County. It is being reported that there is a full closure on the I-5 northbound.
UPDATE: The Henderson fire has quickly grown to at least 400 acres and is burning close to the I-5 freeway. Follow for updates here.

I was excited to present @MissionViejoCA with an $850,000 check on Tuesday night to use for wildfire mitigation efforts! This will help pay for removing dead and dying trees and other potential fuel for wildfires from land adjacent to residential and commercial areas. I am so happy I could secure this funding through the state budget and help the city reduce its wildfire risk.
