Moon water would be a good name for a sleep supplement beverage.

This may be the dividing line separating skilled and unskilled therapists. Unskilled therapists see pain and victimhood. Skilled therapists also see the hate and aggression and know how work with it. How do we know there is hate and aggression? Because the patient is human. 👇
“It is one thing to empathize with patients’ experiences of injury and victimization but we must be able to empathize with their negative impulses as well, including sadistic or hateful wishes to attack or to wreak vengeance.” —M. Carsky & F. Yeomans, “Overwhelming Patients and Overwhelmed Therapists”

It's fascinating hearing this since I actually don't have a background in psychology prior to becoming a therapist. My BA was in English literature, and I enjoyed doing character analysis. So when I would hear about these dry clinical terms about a patient in grad school, I would ask, "what about the person?"

That would be nice. I should clarify: it's not so much what should we replace it with, but I can't help imagine that something similar to psychology would try to interject itself into communities, family, etc. it's also interesting that the responsibility for human well being became associated with psychology. If that is the case, it has failed in many ways.

I'm curious. What do you imagine would replace it?

Schedule change threw me off. I was only able to catch the last bit of it. Look forward to listening to it later.

Good news, consumer, we have non-alcoholic beers so your consuming quest can continue unimpeded.

You're meant to consume, not communicate. You must consume, consumer, then when you're done, leave the establishment for the next round of consumption in your consuming circuit.

TikTok is a cesspool. The content on that platform is WILDLY unregulated. Someone brought to my attention that someone seeking out aid for self harm urges and SI can encounter content that actually encourages it alongside support resources. In fact, someone recorded it and sent it to me, showcasing that you can encounter a string of triggering images and messages.

When they said my family therapist "told me therapists are talking about this with each other because none of them know what to say," did they mean the other therapist on reddit? Because that's the kind of stuff I see on Reddit.

The CBT and evidence-based folks will look you dead in the eye and say "psychoanalysis is harmful for OCD" and then try to sell you a plushie rainbow brain.

First you destroy society with Twitter, then sell it and run away. Now you’re creating a vocal gateway to AI hell.
