The reason people hate flock cameras is that they know the government will not use them to lock up the insane depraved criminals who will stab you while you walk through Times Square but will instead mail you a ticket for speeding on an empty highway at 2AM.

I just read the medical details about what screwworm is, how it spreads, and the various dangers it poses. It's gross. I do not recommend. I will now try to return to political analysis and never think about this again.

Just added NDFI exposure to the Dirt Cheap Banks site. Most investors still analyze banks like it’s 2019: CRE %, NIM, deposit beta, call it a day. Meanwhile a lot of risk has migrated into lending to non depository financial institutions (fintechs, mortgage shops, specialty lenders, private credit). Now you can instantly see: - NDFI loans in dollars - NDFI as % of total loans - NDFI as % of tangible equity - Trendline by quarter It’s a fast way to spot when a bank quietly shifts into a higher beta loan book, even if headline metrics still look fine. Use it as a filter, then go read the footnotes.

A game on US bank consolidation 1980-2030 would be fantastic: 20,000 players vie to become nationally dominant or hit 10,000% TSR. Play solo with tremendous AI or massive multiplayer online once they understand merger accounting. And, of course, the FDIC is the ultimate NPC.

Just spent some time looking at the Bank of the West branch system that $BMO just bought off $BNP. It's just amazing how poorly it was managed. Almost like BNP forgot they had it; or needed USD deposits so badly that they did all sorts of uneconomic stuff.

Instead of a poll tax you have to be able to understand the difference between median and mean.

This is your annual reminder that the Mets restructured Bobby Bonilla's contract at a 9% interest rate because they could reinvest the money with Bernie Madoff at 11%+.

Because bank supervisors are tasked with insuring compliance of others, they must hold themselves to a high standard. Things like the culture problems at FDIC, the cyber security breach at OCC, and the Fed’s inability to identify account holders raise ?s that should be addressed.
LOOKY HERE @ProfJulieHill--this appeared in the Fed's most recent master account database update (link 👇). Imagine what Fed examiners would rightfully do to a bank that couldn't produce an accurate list of its account holders...🤔 federalreserve.gov/paymentsy…

i've been to three annual meetings. he answers no substantive questions, under the guise that saying anything would be "unfair" to some shareholders over others. in reality he just sees the bank as his own kingdom to do whatever he wants, and answer to nobody

“The sheer presumptiveness of the U.K. thinking that it has the authority to force Apple to compromise its worldwide userbase is breathtaking. It's 2025, not 1925, something that no one in the U.K. seems to be aware of.”

Think about this a lot. Kissinger on Trump to the FT in 2018: «  I think Trump may be one of those figures in history who appears from time to time to mark the end of an era and force it to give up its old pretenses. »

The decisive Senate majority means that Elizabeth Warren is no longer important, so $WFC can shed its asset cap and its place in the doghouse be taken by $TD, which will have the added bonus of pissing off Justin.

Having committees of regulators attempting to assign risk weights to assets of banks across the globe, with varied business models is fundamentally political and does more harm than good. www-nationalreview-com.cdn.a…
