Nairobi Housing has always been an income problem. A lot of work went into trying to solve this problem of housing in the 70's & 80's. We never really cracked housing since incomes stagnated along with the gov screwing up the solution that worked.

Motorists in Nairobi usually do not give the right-of-way to pedestrians, so paint is not enough to ensure safety at crossings. We need to incorporate traffic calming to slow down vehicles.
Check out this example of a tabletop crossing from Kisumu.

Those communist authorities and officers must have been very embarrassed.
In October 1978, 58-year old Cardinal Karol Wojtyła arrived in Rome for the funeral of Pope John Paul I and the Conclave to elect his successor.
Before leaving Poland, the communist authorities confiscated his diplomatic passport, leaving him with only his tourist passport. One provincial secretary of the Communist Party warned him: “Go, go. When you return, we will settle accounts.”
But Karol did not seem worried. At the airport, a television crew awaited him, and he looked around with a calm, almost amused expression as the cameras followed him.
They Communist authorities were waiting for him in Poland but they didn't know that God had a bigger plan for him. The next time he returned to Poland, he returned as Pope John Paul II.
