No, it belongs to Britain. The Spanish themselves, as a country with a long and glorious military tradition, have their own trophies.
British flag captured by Spanish forces in the American Revolutionary War and now kept at the Museo del Ejército in Spain:

It's kind of like the pilgrim fathers, or the First Fleet to Australia, except it is bad.

Here's toe to toe, battle of Boston harbour, two good commanders, to equally matched ships. British victory.
How about this for toe-to-toe.
Battle of Boston Harbour
38-gun HMS Shannon versus 38-gun USS Chesapeake.
British victory.
Mind you, I fully respect the US naval achievement in the War of 1812, they were the underdog and made a good showing for the opening phase of the war
Every time I see something like this about the British Navy i think about the fact that the US Navy went toe-to-toe with them in the War of 1812 with like six frigates and a bunch of privateers and it got so bad that the British admiralty forbade ships from engaging American frigates unless they had a two to one advantage.

I'm a big fan of the Andrew Lambert biography but I'm curious if there are others you also like and would recommend.
The death of Nelson and the death of Wolfe, both by the American painter Benjamin West.
The similarity is not by chance. Wolfe was one of Nelson's personal heroes. There is a story, by no means definitely true, that Nelson actually met West and discussed the Wolfe painting:

Some of the names are so good that they are used in both fleets.

Quite a few of those well-made Spanish and French ships ended up in the Royal Navy with four French built ships in the British fleet at Trafalgar, so thanks France.

Nelson’s prayer before Trafalgar. The last record, but one, that he made in his diary.
“May the great God, whom I worship, grant to my country, and for the benefit of Europe in general, a great and glorious victory; and may no misconduct in anyone tarnish it; and may humanity after victory be the predominant feature in the British fleet. For myself individually, I commit my life to Him that made me, and may His blessing alight on my endeavours for serving my country faithfully. To Him I resign myself, and the just cause which is entrusted to me to defend. Amen, Amen, Amen.”

As far as I can tell, the only punishment that really significantly reduces recidivism is transportation to Australia.
The British Empire was the triumph of man over the tyranny of distance.
'Now the moment was fast advancing which was to Decide wether the Boasted Herosum of France and Spain or the Ginene Valour of free Born Britains was to Rule the Main . . . Death or Victory was the Gineral Resolution of our Ships Crew.' - James Martin, able seaman on the Neptune

It's an integral part of England. Sure, they are a bit different, just like Scotland is not absolutely cultural uniform across the whole country.

Sounds like a beautiful cross-cultural experience.
