My official stance on XC tie breakers:
If the top-5 runners from each team couldn't decide who was the better team, then I don't see why scoring the same top-5 but in a different way makes much sense
The 6th runner shows who has more depth and makes the full team matter more

🚨 RELAY UPDATE 🚨
After ruling that both Team USA and Team Kenya were impeded during the rounds of the #WorldAthleticsChamps 4x400m qualifying, World Athletics rules that both teams will run a head-to-head re-race for a spot in the final.

I’m not here to be a Debbie downer. But this is sad.
This weekends USAs had so many crazy races.
And we get 6k people showing up.
We need more venues than middle of nowhere OR, and better marketing/ideas.
The athletes deserve it. They are putting on a show.

Cooper Lutkenhaus's 1:42.27 would have been the American record for the 800 meters as recently as August 2024.

One thing I've noticed
The athletes that make the most progress in 4 years are the ones who commit to training hard over the summer and breaks
It's not sets, reps, exercises variations, or methods
It's consistency and commitment to training
That's the secret

Dreams really do come true.🥇
After three strong rounds in the 100m, I came out on top as the National Champion, made the US team, and set a new personal best of 9.79.
Last year taught me perseverance, how to face tough losses, make the right adjustments, and come back stronger. Every race this season has been a step closer to my goal of becoming the greatest, fastest athlete this sport has ever seen.
I’ve done the work, trusted my coach, and reminded myself that I belong here.
Tomorrow, I’ll step onto the track calm and controlled. I know what needs to be done to finish what I started. Watch me fly.

Here's where things get a bit complicated...
Taylor Roe finished third in the women's 10,000m in 31:45.41.
That's worth 1153 points for the performance + 45 points for the third place finish = 1198 points.
Couple that with her 30:58.66 performance at the TEN was worth 1234 points (1194 points plus 40 placing points).
I project 1218 to be the magic number to get qualified for Worlds.
This boosts her World Ranking average to 1216.
It's very, very close. She may have to rely on some athletes in the quota to scratch. We also have a bunch of other national championships and she could chase the standard (although a fast 10,000m after that is hard).
Weini Kelati would take the third spot for Tokyo if Roe does not make it into the quota. We'll have to wait and see.
