Contrails have a net warming effect on the planet, at least as important as the one caused by aviation’s CO2 emissions. But good news: simple measures to avoid their formation could have a huge impact. So what are we waiting for? Read our report 👉 transportenvironment.org/art…

Today 50 climate and aviation scientists from across the globe are calling on the aviation industry to take action on contrails. Addressing contrails from planes is a no-regrets decision that will help slow climate change – but the time to act is now. Read the letter ➡️ transportenvironment.org/art…

Unfairways.com provides private luxury travel in a way that screams indulgence. But there’s no getting away from it. Extreme inequality is fuelling the climate crisis. Let’s fight climate inequality and tax private luxury travel. Get onboard at bit.ly/unfairways

We’re at the Houses of Parliament today with @_SafeLanding and @GreenAllianceUK to talk to parliamentarians about how the government can get air travel on track for our climate goals. Keep the momentum going and ask your MP to support one 👇 wearepossible.org/ask-for-ff…

An end of an era.
Historic moment for the energy/environment blob - @alanwhiteheadmp just made his last speech as an MP in Westminster Hall, championing floating offshore wind. Such an incredible champion for decarbonisation, respected by all. When books are written on how we reached net zero, I'm sure you'll find his name in many of the pages.

Turns out taking action to reduce emissions incrementally is kinda pointless if the amount of polluting activity massively increases... @Josh_Gabbatiss @CarbonBrief "Benefits of UK ‘sustainable aviation fuel’ will be wiped out by rising demand" carbonbrief.org/analysis-ben…

Climate experts were increasingly saying that keeping heating below 1.5C is near impossible, yet it remains the global goal. So I asked hundreds of top IPCC scientists what they thought. What they said shocked even me… 🧵 1/n #ClimateCrisis

Making aviation fuel out of waste is NOT sustainable or efficient. - Most wastes, such as used cooking oil, already have other uses - It includes waste from unsustainable industry such as plastics - Because we’re committed to cutting waste, it can’t be sustainably scaled up. 4/9

NEW: Ryanair is Europe’s top polluting airline for a third year in a row. While legacy airlines are still responsible for the biggest chunk of aviation emissions, budget carriers are polluting more than ever. See the full ranking ➡️ transportenvironment.org/dis…
