True mastery-based (or standards-based) education would focus purely on results. Attendance would be the means to an end, not the goal.
Public school attendance last fall averaged 90 percent, according to a federal survey, a figure that experts say remains too low.

We too often fail to recognize that the entire app/social media industry is built around exploiting weaknesses in our brain to get us on their phones.
A hyper-focus on engagement is a battle we won't win. We aren't more "engaging" than what's on their phone. Period.
