Tonight’s polls on Israel’s Channels 12 and 13 suggest Trump’s endorsement on Sunday has yet to lift Netanyahu: Likud remains at 19–20 seats and his bloc at 49–51 range, trailing the opposition on both networks. Gadi Eisenkot has also publicly today ruled out a unity government with Netanyahu, staking his credibility on keeping his word.
Friday brings the final broadcast polls before Tuesday’s election. Netanyahu is counting on a late shift toward larger parties as voters seek to avoid wasting ballots on lists that may fall below the 3.25% threshold—roughly four seats. (It is estimated that earlier this week 8 seats worth of voters are supporting parties that could fall below the threshold.)
In 2022, votes lost below the threshold helped turn an apparent 60–60 deadlock into a 64–56 Netanyahu majority. This time, his own bloc -- not the centrists of 2022-- feels the pressure. Yesterday, he took the extraordinary step of appealing to Rabbi Eli Sadan, mentor to Ofer Winter, whose right-wing party risks falling short. Netanyahu is begging Winter to drop out. Tonight, Winter publicly reaffirmed that he is staying in the race.

Forget for a moment that I strongly support the U.S.-Israel relationship. Forget that I am Jewish and a Zionist.
Let’s examine Abdul El-Sayed’s interview with ABC’s Linsey Davis strictly as Americans, through the lens of U.S. foreign policy and national security, issues that play a MAJOR role in the United States Senate.
There is so much wrong with his argument.
Israel is one of America’s most important strategic allies. Period. It is a critical bulwark against Iranian-backed terrorism, violent Islamic fundamentalism and forces seeking to destabilize the Middle East. The intelligence sharing, military cooperation and counterterrorism partnership between our countries is second to none and have helped protect American lives and interests.
El-Sayed portrays Israel as a country that takes our money and drags Americans into wars. That is an extraordinary oversimplification of American foreign policy and simply not true and dangerous to American lives.
Dozens of countries receive American foreign assistance. We have deployed troops, spent billions and billions of dollars and sadly lost thousands of American lives defending other nations and protecting shared strategic interests. We currently protect South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Japan. We stand strong on the front lines of Central and Western Europe. We are throughout the Middle East. Kuwait has directly requested American military intervention. Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries have urged Washington to confront Iran militarily. And the list goes on and on….
Israel has advocated American military action and so have many other countries, but it is American presidents who decide whether to send Americans to war. Blaming Israel for those decisions erases American responsibility and our duty as the world’s super power to stand with our allies.
And there is something deeply troubling about repeatedly portraying the Jewish state as taking American money while making Americans fight wars and subsequently put their lives in perilous danger. Such accusations risk reinforcing antisemitic narratives about Jewish influence and control and it threatens our community.
Israel is not simply a recipient of American generosity. It is a strategic partner that provides extremely important intelligence, military technology, regional deterrence and counterterrorism cooperation that benefit the United States and its people. The U.S.-Israel relationship is not charity. It is a partnership built around substantial shared security interests.
Anyone seeking to serve in the United States Senate should be prepared to explain both the costs and benefits of that relationship, and distinguish legitimate disagreements over policy from sweeping accusations against one of America’s most important friends and ally.

I have a received a letter from @cogatonline on the suspension of private-sector goods coordination into Gaza as a result of reports of threats and coercion by Hamas. As I have warned repeatedly, such practices are unacceptable and must end immediately. The intimidation of merchants and interference in the supply chain only deepen the suffering of Gaza's civilians.
These developments demonstrate why the rapid deployment of the @NCAG, supported by the International Stabilization Force (ISF), is urgently needed. Civilian supplies, humanitarian assistance and commercial activity must be protected from coercion, exploitation and interference.
All parties should work with the @BoardOfPeace and move without delay to implement the Comprehensive Plan endorsed by #UNSC Resolution 2803, including the arrangements required for NCAG and ISF operations in Gaza. This includes the decommissioning of weapons, the transition to legitimate transitional governance and the protection of humanitarian and commercial supply chains.

This is untrue unless your position is that Israel hasn't investigated itself at all.
Pillay's UN commission assumed without justification that Hamas did not exist as a belligerent in the conflict. Pillay's report uses proximate cause to establish specific intent, which is impermissible. Pillay's report ignores the only reasonable inference test.
Pillay's UN commission is a dumpster fire of contempt for the actual law, and those were just a few examples of the numerous flaws with it.

Do you know what “foreseeable” means in ascertaining intent in the law, or no…?
Foreseeability is an element of negligence law, as we discuss it that’s proximate cause. Where it was foreseeable that the harm would occur.
In specific intent foreseeability is not one of the measures of intent. Knowing that harm could occur, and that being a foreseeable consequence of the action, is not the same as specifically intending that result.
Pillay used that twice in her report to try and establish specific intent. That’s wholly inaccurate to how we determine intent for specific intent crimes.
If I drive in excess of the speed limit it is foreseeable that I can’t brake in time to prevent a collision, that is not the same as specifically intending to cause the collision.
It seems that you don’t actually know how to think, Ismail.
Since Pillay won the Nobel Peace Prize, Elliot has been running around social media, alleging that Pillay’s work in the report concluding that Israel has committed genocide in Gaza relied on “proximate cause” to establish genocidal intent.
This is plainly false.
Elliot has been misrepresenting international law, and what the UNHRC report actually says (para. 162 et seq.):
“To analyse the genocidal intent of the Israeli authorities, the Commission refers both to statements made by members of the Israeli government (direct evidence of dolus specialis) and to the pattern of conduct of the Israeli authorities and Israeli security forces including during military operations, that were consistent with the sentiments of the statements of Israeli government (indirect or circumstantial evidence of dolus specialis).”
The Commission goes on to detail the plethora of genocidal statements as well as the genocidal conduct, which, in the Commission and my own estimation, cannot be construed otherwise than genocidal.
There is not a single decision by an international court or a report by a competent international organization or trustworthy NGO on the matter that Elliot hasn’t smeared and misrepresented.
Pathetic truly, yet he poses as an international law professional.

EXCEEDING THEIR GOAL
Serving the community.
Chamblee-based Jewish Family and Career Services’ Growth, Innovation & Durability Campaign raised $8.9 million in new endowment commitments from 2024 to 2026. “It doubled our endowments from its precampaign level and was fueled by seven-figure gifts,” says Amanda La Kier, chief advancement officer. “This milestone reflects the extraordinary generosity from our donors and a shared commitment toward a long-term impact.”
Major donations included $3 million from the Henry and Etta Raye Hirsch Heritage Foundation, $2.5 million from the Bunzl Family Foundation and $1 million from Judith and Gary Alembik to support teen mental health. Though based on Jewish values, JF&CS’s services are open to everyone. Funds from the ongoing campaign will be used to support its five programs across aging, mental health, disability and families, plus the Ben Massell Dental Clinic where volunteer dentists have been serving patients at no cost for the last 100 years.
Since 2019, JF&CS has increased its operating budget to more than $27 million with a goal of $30 million. According to La Kier, the success of the campaign reflects the philanthropic confidence in the organization’s vision and durability to serve the community now and in the future. La Kier, former CEO Terri Bonoff and current CEO Jay Cranman led the campaign.

I oppose the death penalty, but I didn't always feel that way. I understand the people who support it - because I once was one of them.
But either way, the death penalty staged as a public spectacle is an abomination and stains us all.
