Texas Governor-elect Gina Hinojosa, the first Democrat to win the state's governor's race in 36 years, in a new interview tonight on Elon Musk and AI data centers:
"We can have a strong working relationship with Elon Musk and his companies, but it has to be on our terms. We have always been a pro-business state, but data centers have moved into mostly rural communities and there are no rules to protect Texans, so the difference is we will have laws to protect Texans. We can have a strong economy and strong industry, and protections for Texans."
It sounds like Gina is not going to stop the construction of data centers that have already started are received all permits, but that there will be a pause on any new permits once she is Governor until some sort of "laws and protections" are put in place. This would be good news for SpaceX and other companies that have already secured permits for big data center capacity expansion in 2027. Beyond that, we'll see. Seems like these new elects are open to work with companies.

As of 2 September 2026, the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) withdrew the Payments Association of South Africa’s (PASA) recognition as the country’s payment system management body.
SARB now takes direct responsibility for key functions including regulation, licensing, and payment standards, while PayInc operates key payment infrastructure.

Every time you make an EFT, debit order or PayShap payment, there is infrastructure and a set of rules operating behind the transaction.
The new framework puts more of that oversight directly under SARB, while PayInc operates important payment systems.
The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) is overhauling the cash system to strip traditional banks of their proprietary ATMs.
They are moving toward a single, unified "white-label" ATM national utility to force transaction fees down for low-income citizens.
End of proprietary fees means Banks like FirstRand, Standard Bank, and Capitec will no longer be able to charge premium fees when customers use their proprietary ATMs.

Democrat Nancy Lacore, a 35-year Navy veteran who rose through the ranks from helicopter pilot to become Chief of Navy Reserve, was fired in August of 2025 amid Hegseth's purging of high-ranking women in the military. While no official reason was given, the deeply misogynistic Hegseth has not been coy about his caveman belief that only testosterone-injecting men should serve.
Lacore has now defeated Republican Jenny Costa Honeycutt to seize a seat that was formerly held by MAGA lunatic Nancy Mace who launched a failed bid for the governor's mansion this year.
Lacore has not been shy about criticizing Hegseth's disastrous mismanagement of the Defense Department, particularly his failed Iran War.
"Pete Hegseth is the most unqualified Secretary of Defense that we have ever had, and he is doing significant damage to our military that it will really take decades to undo," she said, adding that he "needs to go."
The most beautiful irony here? Congresswoman Lacore could soon be voting with the rest of the Democratic majority in the House to impeach Pete Hegseth. We have subpoena power starting in January, so we'll be able to uncover all of the gross negligence and rampant criminality that he's overseen.
