Got blocked by Kramnik yesterday, so thought I would celebrate it by making this parody video :).
It is not perfect, but I spent way too many hours on it! I did entertain myself - so I hope I can also entertain you :).
I am not sure whether the queen blunder or the fact that they didn't play Chess960 makes the hacking more obvious :D
Someone hacked into my chess.com account yesterday, and played 4 rated games.
I am cool with that, what bothers me, is their mistakes:

Simon was just found dead.
I am the British whistleblower who reported evidence concerning Howard Lutnick, his links to Jeffrey Epstein, and Cantor Fitzgerald and BGC to the FBI in 2020–21.
Listen to the BBC File on 4 documentary about my whistleblower story:

I later shared evidence with the House Oversight Committee, which subsequently questioned Lutnick behind closed doors.
My disclosures also contributed to regulatory action in the US and UK, including a £96m HMRC tax assessment relating to BGC’s partnership scheme. I believe the true tax exposure is substantially higher.
I also reported to the FBI and financial regulators matters involving Cantor Fitzgerald’s Relief Fund and BGC/Cantor’s annual 9/11 Charity Day.
The personal consequences of whistleblowing, and the retaliation I say followed, have been devastating for my family and me.
Mother Jones previously reported that documents I uncovered revealed a years-long business tie between Howard Lutnick, Cantor Fitzgerald and Jeffrey Epstein through AdFin, including a 2018 exchange in which Lutnick and Epstein discussed the company directly:

Follow me here on X and on LinkedIn. I intend to share more of the evidence and the story behind what happened.
IDK why, but this tweet immediately reminded me of that brilliant Caddycarus clip from his Crash Bash video
Dear FIDE friends, family members and colleagues! Dear players, arbiters, organisers and many more chess lovers and professionals!
Eight years ago I was elected as FIDE president. It has been a big honor, a huge challenge and a real pleasure to serve FIDE throught this period full of intensive chess life.
I thank our team for all the success stories we had. I thank all chess federations - both experienced and new ones - for moving chess forward out of the woods together. Anything we could not achieve is on me.
But I firmly believe that it has been a positive time for us and our chess family is more prosperous now than ever. And we have laid a foundation for even brighter future.
It is a day for a new team to take over and I am confident in their ability to do even better. Chess will continue to bring joy, build bridges and make people around the world skillful and happier.
I will be around.
Gens Una Sumus.
Yours,
Arkady Dvorkovich
Yup, but physical fitness is only one aspect of what defines a sport.
Physical skill (motion, technique) is another. In chess, it mostly doesn't matter HOW you move the pieces (in contrast to, say, tennis, where it does matter HOW your racket approaches the ball at the serve).
Yup, I wrote about this 7 years ago. Still haven't changed my mind!

New FIDE team, day one: Grand Swiss (May 10-25) and European Championship (May 10-23) on the same dates. Not asking for ATP-level scheduling, just maybe don't make the top players clone themselves. 😅♟️
Suffered a devastating last-round loss in the Zagreb Open against a nominally lower-rated, yet very good opponent, which ruined my tournament (big rating minus instead of a top-10 prize finish).
How do you guys deal with immense anger and disappointment after such games?
:(
From an objective standpoint, I understand this is a good lesson, that I should learn from these mistakes, that I played a bad opening and made calculation mistakes.
But emotionally, it is so hard to cope with it. Especially since I don't play THAT much classical chess.
Dear lord, what a destruction with the Black pieces. Prime Wei Yi is such a joy to watch. Brilliant player!
Just joking, chess never stops. Today, I managed to win one of the craziest tournament games ever.
Have mixed feelings about it because I was worse out of the opening, and because I was extremely lucky to have an opponent who wanted to win a drawn endgame.
But we take them!

You can see strange stuff at the Chess Olympiad sometimes. One guy has lost two COMPLETELY IDENTICAL games due to a Scholar’s mate. I have just one question: why??? I don’t believe that he missed it twice in a row. Did he place some kind of a bet that this would happen?
Don't ask me how I ended up reading replies to a post by Lauren Witzke, but there is SO much irony in this reply I don't know even where to begin...
A good case study how meeting groups you have prejudice against can help defeat that prejudice. Even with fundamentalist lunatics.
Replying to @ellie_hen
Thank you! Actually it’s very safe here, I was expecting a Muslim authoritarian country to be third world ish and oppressive, but was surprised to find that they treat Christians as their equals and are extremely kind and generous to us. Wonderful people actually.
Abon Arelong is the vice-president of the Marshall Islands Chess Federation, which was founded in 2025 after the visit of Nigel Short (Director of Development ).
Isn't it a bit strange that the vice-president of the federation who doesn't see mate in 1 makes the team?

P.S. Do note that I wasn' advocating banning countries that have, say, 4x 1600 or 1800 players. I do think there should be a cut-off with people who "can't play", but I don't know exactly how to implement it, etc. (hence regional qualifier).
