My hot take is that in the absence of mentorship and (genuine) outreach activities, someones success story as a grad student, postdoc, or faculty becomes pretty unimpressive.

Hi science world, this is a long shot, but... Does anyone out there have BTK antibody (M-138 clone) from @SantaCruzBio (Catalogue # sc-1696)? The antibody is now discontinued unfortunately and I desperately need some to validate something I am seeing in some WBs.

I am looking for alternative options, but having some of *this* specific antibody against BTK would be incredibly useful.

everything about presenting is absolutely torturous for me and my mental health takes a dive every single time i need to do it!

but i also get that it's important to learn how to communicate your science and presenting is one way you improve on that skill. i just can't deal with how anxiety inducing it is for me personally.

What do you do when there's no assay for your protein's activity? Dyes might help! Excited to share protein-adaptive DSF (paDSF), a versatile new dye-based method to create stability assays on-demand. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

UCSF friends: I started a board game club and we have monthly board game nights! Our "meeting" for January is happening tomorrow at 6 PM in Mission Bay, Byers Hall, Room 212. Send me a DM if you're interested in joining and I can add you to the groups listserv.

It's BYOB (bring your own boardgames), but the club provides a few games for people to pick and play from: - Catan - Wingspan - Codenames - Betrayal on House on The Hill - Forbidden Desert - Bohnanza - BANG! - A War of Whispers - Avalon - Coup ...and more!

Topped this bad boy up today which means it is time for the @ZaroLab to get some drinks 🍻 Each one of those @PreOmics cartridges = one mass spec sample. Care to guess how many are in this 250 mL flask?

This thread perfectly captures how I've been feeling. Rather than claiming that "No-vote" people have no plan, the "Yes-vote" people should ask themselves: what is *our* plan to fight for the marginalized folks that this contract will leave behind if it gets ratified?
A “yes” vote is a vote for continued precarity and uncertainty. hoped these would get addressed on KPFA this morning but y'all didn't show, so let's do it on twitter. What’s the “yes” vote organizers’ plan for: 🧵

And no, not in a year from now when we can go back to the bargaining table and renegotiate...by then, many people who are parents, rent burdened and/or disabled will have likely dropped out due to the lack of support that this contract will provide them.
