En 2009, il a rejoint l'American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) comme chercheur invité (senior scholar). Thank you Minister. We are also pleased by the resumption of our diplomatic relations, which should open a new era of constructive dialogue in a spirit of mutual respect. On the conflict in eastern DRC, we believe that the respect of the territorial integrity of all countries of the region, the neutralization of the FDLR genocidal force and the resolution of the conflict between the Government of DRC and the AFC/M23 by addressing its root causes remain key points to ensure sustainable peace in the region.
🇧🇪🇷🇼 (EN/FR/NL) Pleased to announce today the resumption of diplomatic relations between Belgium and Rwanda. In a world marked by growing tensions, this is an important signal here in New York, the UN's host city, which embodies multilateralism and dialogue beyond our differences. This is the culmination of a process of frank discussions with my counterpart and the result of a shared, respectful effort. I am convinced that we can set a positive agenda, mutually beneficial to our citizens, and grounded in the richness of our interpersonal relations. We agreed on the importance of systematic dialogue, including on the points of disagreement that remain, such as the conflict in eastern DRC. Restoring diplomatic relations between states does not mean abandoning our position, but having structured channels for dialogue, and I will continue to defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the DRC. We want to put our expertise in the region to work in support of mediation efforts as best we can, and we will continue to urge strict respect for the commitments made by all parties within the Doha and Washington processes. @BelgiumMFA

“Unfortunately, a number of parts of financial systems on our continent are framed in such a way that they mostly avail capital to those who have it. The government has to find a way of chipping in and being somewhere in the middle so that they take part of the risk and enable those who do not have capital or access to it easily to be able to do so, and this is possible. In the end, even government absorbing or de-risking the activity of the young people who may be involved with borrowing from the bank actually has a very high return because those who are supported many times make money. They move up the ladder to do things that benefit them but also benefit the country and the economy at large. There are mechanisms that can be put in place, there are ways if we are deliberate and organised we should be able to do that.” President Kagame | Africa Food Systems Forum 2026

“Nuclear energy is increasingly recognised as part of the clean energy transition and that creates new opportunities. What Africa cannot afford is fragmentation. If countries work in isolation, progress will be slow and far more costly. Cooperation on regulation, financing, and regional power integration is essential. This is precisely why NEISA matters. We are moving the conversation beyond ambition to practical coordination, and financing mechanisms that can sustain deployment at scale. Rwanda will continue supporting these efforts, because this is larger than any one country.” President Kagame | Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa (NEISA) 2026 - Opening Ceremony

It is unfortunate for a Human Right Commissioner to miss the basic principals of  making an assessment taking into account all sides & lack the obligation of upholding  Human integrity. Matters related to DRC should remain the responsibility and accountability of DRC leadership.
German govt's human rights commissioner went to Kinshasa & Beni in #DRC and says ending the war is a matter for #Rwanda only. No mention of ongoing peace processes, or that DRC govt is not honouring its own engagements, or even the disastrous human rights situation in DRC.
