🇮🇱 Israeli PM Netanyahu secretly met UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed on Sunday and asked him to deny that he warned Netanyahu of a major Hamas attack days before October 7, a source with firsthand knowledge told Haaretz.
Haaretz reported this month that bin Zayed spent 45 minutes on the phone with Netanyahu about ten days before October 7, explicitly warning that Yahya Sinwar was planning a major operation. Netanyahu reportedly said Hamas was focused on the West Bank and never briefed his security chiefs. The New York Times has since confirmed the warning.
Netanyahu calls the report an "absolute lie" and has threatened to sue. He also denies reports by The Atlantic and The Wall Street Journal that Egypt's intelligence chief repeatedly warned him too.

Israel has revoked the aliyah eligibility of two young Jewish activists, one British and one American, who have worked to protect Palestinian communities in the West Bank from settler and military violence. These are the first known cases in which the authorities appear to be violating the Law of Return, which grants every Jew the right to immigrate to Israel.

It really is amazing - and telling - that Susan Collins was caught in a massive bribery scandal and no one in establishment media cares.
They investigated every five minute block of Graham Platner's life. But they won't touch Susan Collins, who gave away tens of millions of dollars of our money to people who donated to her and her Super Pac. That's a direct robbery of the American people. The FBI has all the evidence. And the media won't report on it!
Mainstream media loves bribery - and actively tries to cover it up so no one finds out about it. Why? Because they are the top beneficiary of this corruption. Almost all the money politicians get through these bribes goes in to ... ads on mainstream media.
The national media makes billions from this system of corruption, so their main job is not to inform you, it's to do the exact opposite. Their job is to make sure you remain blind to what's making everyone in Washignton rich - at our expense.

Urge the international media to go to Gaza and report the truth.

If you're a little ocean critter, it really sucks ass when a human rolls up and picks you up out of the water.
Take the humble sea star, for example. No gills, no lungs. It breathes through tiny bumps on its skin that pull oxygen straight out of the water. Lift it into the air for a photo and those bumps collapse. The critter suffocates.
And the grab itself does damage too. Sea stars, limpets, and mussels hang onto the rock with everything they've got, because letting go means getting eaten or washed away. Pry one off and you can tear it or kill it. Flip a rock and whatever lives underneath gets baked by the sun.
In a lot of marine protected areas, picking up an animal even for a second can get you fined.
Crouch down, get close, take the picture in the water. If you have to touch, wet your hand in seawater, make sure it's sunscreen-free, and use two fingers. Then leave it where it is.

The ten poorest states are, in this order: Indiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Alabama, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Arkansas, Louisiana, West Virginia, Mississippi. All but New Mexico are red states. So my question is, if Republican economic policies are so great, why are nine of the poorest states Republican states?

🦔A two-tower office complex in downtown Philadelphia was appraised at $471 million in 2019. A judge just approved its sale for $70 million. The 85% decline means even the AAA-rated bonds backed by the property will take losses, only the third time that's happened since the 2008 financial crisis.
Pimco, one of the largest bond managers in the world, holds roughly $58 million across the deal and faces over $35 million in losses. The building was 93% leased in 2020. It's 28% leased today. Over 30 other top-rated single-asset CMBS deals are now below 85 cents on the dollar, per Bloomberg.
My Take
AAA is supposed to mean you always get paid. Pimco bought that rating and is about to recover 44 cents on the dollar. The building lost 65 points of occupancy in six years and the agencies didn't downgrade the bonds fast enough for it to matter. The ratings were wrong in 2008 on housing and they were wrong here on offices.
These single-asset deals were Wall Street's favorite product for a decade. One building, one loan, slap a AAA on the top tranche. A KBRA analyst called it "binary." Either everything pays or everything defaults. That structure hides risk behind a credit rating until it's too late to get out. And the BofA head of CMBS strategy said this is just the start. Chicago, Denver, Portland, downtown LA, none of those office markets have recovered and the loans are coming due over the next two years. At a 5.13% 10-year yield, no one is going to refinance a half-empty office tower. The owners walk away, the bondholders eat it, and the AAA stamp was worth exactly what it was in 2008.

In 2019, not one pedestrian or cyclist died on the streets of Oslo, a city of 673,000. The only traffic death all year was a driver who hit a fence. By contrast, in 1975, Oslo lost 41 pedestrians.
The city decided cars downtown should be treated more like guests than residents. It pulled out 700+ street parking spaces and put in bike lanes, benches and tiny parks. It closed some streets to cars entirely and cut speed limits across the city.
But it killed the economy, right? No. Sales kept pace with or beat the shopping areas outside the car-free zone, and more businesses chose to open there. Foot traffic went up 10%, even as 28% of cars disappeared.
But people couldn't get to work, right? Also no. Before any of this, only about 1 in 10 commuters into downtown Oslo drove. The city took away street parking, not access: you can still drive in and park in a garage.
When researchers surveyed commuters before and after, almost nobody changed how they got to work, and overall they were happier with their commute.
Boston has about 100,000 fewer people and had 10 traffic deaths in 2019, 7 of them pedestrians.
None of this is rocket science. Lower speeds, less parking, protected lanes, car-free school streets, graet mass transit. Any American city could start tomorrow.

In July 2006, Craig Monteilh, a former bodybuilder and convicted con artist, showed up at the Irvine Islamic Center in Orange County, California, under the false identity of Farouk al-Aziz, a supposed Franco-Syrian convert seeking to reconnect with his Muslim roots.
He publicly converted to Islam in front of 300 people and quickly gained the community’s trust, working out with them at the gym and being invited into their homes.
In reality, he was working as part of an FBI undercover operation called “Operation Flex,” recording thousands of hours of conversations with devices hidden in a button on his shirt and in his keys, compiling names, phone numbers, and even license plate numbers. His FBI agents instructed him to ask about “jihad” and express a willingness to use violence in an attempt to identify potential extremists, a tactic that backfired.
His behavior alarmed the parishioners so much that in June 2007 they reported him to the FBI itself and sought a restraining order against him, unaware that he was already working for the agency. The case came to light years later, and in 2021 it reached the U.S. Supreme Court as part of a lawsuit alleging illegal surveillance based on religious discrimination.
