Until 1928, ship’s cats were exempt from the UK laws that mandated a 6-month quarantine for imported animals. When the government revoked this exemption, the Royal Navy contemplated banning cats to avoid the bureaucratic headaches. However, there were concerns that a ban could hinder recruitment because many men believed cats brought good luck and refused to sail without at least one on the ship. It was decided that sailors could keep their cats without quarantine as long as the cats remained confined while in port. #cat #cats #catlovers #catlore

7 major unions in the United States (including the UAW, Teamsters, and United Steelworkers) have sent a letter to Congress in support of restrictions on defense contractors' stock buybacks and dividends in the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act. This new provision would ban major defense contractors from buying back their own stock or paying dividends to shareholders as a condition for receiving federal defense contracts. The 5 largest defense contractors spent twice as much on buybacks and dividends as they did on capital expenditures since 2020, while their workers face increasingly worse employment conditions. Hundreds of billions of dollars went to Wall Street and the bigwigs, while workers on the assembly lines have faced stagnant wages, mandatory overtime, deteriorating benefits, and severe understaffing. When public tax dollars are used to fund defense programs and that money is immediately funneled into stock buybacks, it's essentially an elaborate heist that converts national security funds into private profits.

Remember when they sold us the slogan, “Go paperless, save trees, save the planet”? Now we've gone digital, and it's consuming enormous amounts of water, destroying ecosystems, harming bees, and contributing to environmental damage on a scale paper never did.

BREAKING: America’s $1.7 trillion auto loan market is headed for a crash, per Reuters. Auto loans are now one of the biggest sources of household debt, bigger than credit cards. And the strain is showing: 1 in 5 Americans is behind on at least one loan, the highest since 2010, and the average car on the road is now nearly 13 years old, a record.

Remember - the scandal isn't merely the PROCESS (secret emails and Vegas massages). The scandal is that the @fordnation government tried to dismantle the greenbelt - & is still trying to shift homebuilding back to sprawl- when they KNEW it'd result in FEWER homes slower.

Washington has discovered a brilliant financial strategy. Cut benefits for people who need them, cut taxes for people who don't, and borrow the difference from people who aren't old enough to vote.

Police in Philadelphia arrested a 78-year-old woman for protesting an Uber Eats delivery robot by standing in its way. Cops charged her with disorderly conduct just for standing in front of a robot on a public sidewalk. Carolyn Marvin is a retired communications professor who spent decades teaching freedom of expression at the University of Pennsylvania. She said she specifically keeps the sidewalk open and fully accessible for human pedestrians, and that her actions only target the autonomous vehicle. Marvin has been blocking delivery robots for months to protest the replacement of human delivery workers. She considers her actions to be protected by the First Amendment.

Around 3,700 years ago (1700 B.C.), a group of 6 elevated, C-shaped terraces at what is today Poverty Point, Louisiana, started being made by a group of people, some of which likely already lived in the region. They constructed small "houses" on the terraces and the complex seemingly became a trade center with several older mound complexes already in the area. In 1300 B.C. the massive 700-acre complex at Poverty Point was expanded and at least 6 more mounds were made. The largest mound (Mound A) is widely thought to be a bird-effigy mound that is 72 feet tall with its base dimensions 660 x 705 feet. It covers over 12 acres. Until about 2012 most textbooks "assumed" it took the builders several hundred years to construct the massive, 72-foot-tall mound. This was the prevailing idea because it was thought that the hunter-gatherer society living at the site did not have the leadership, organization, or capability to undertake such a construction on a sustained basis. In 2013 archaeologists Ortmann & Kidder published an article in the journal "Geoarchaeology," specifically reporting on the time it took to build Mound A. They took many core samples and examined sediment looking for signs of erosion (from rainfall over decades). They were astonished to find no evidence of internal erosion. They concluded that the mound was likely built over a 30-day period with perhaps up to a maximum of 90 days. Mound A has an estimated 312,000 cubic yards of soil. The archaeologists wrote that it would take modern dump trucks over 31,000 loads to move that much soil. If the construction actually took the longest estimate of 90-days to complete, they concluded that 9,000-10,000 people were involved: 3,000 workers and the remainder consisting of their families and support workers providing food, water, baskets and clothing, etc. Their major conclusion was that the assumptions about hunter-gatherers being small, loosely knit bands of clans and family groups was clearly a misunderstanding. Below 1: Mound A is on the upper right hand side of a reconstruction of Poverty Point. 2: The 72-foot-tall Mound A.

Remember, our government gave money to TELUS with some kind of secret deal to provide virtual care not doctors who work in offices who can also provide virtual care. You should never do virtual care without the possibility to do it in person we see so many horrors because of it. We have people billing $500,000 -$1.3 million a year diagnosing chronic fatigue syndrome based on checklists and phone calls, telling people they will never work again. I know because the patients tell me.
From TC letters. "It appears that every inquiry as to how to get a new doctor has the same message: Put your name on the medical registry. If you are a senior, you could be six feet under before you are called." Accurate. No social safety net for many.

In 1937, as part of white culture, 24-year-old Charlie Johns married 9-year-old Eunice Winstead in Tennessee, where there was no minimum marriage age. This was the norm among white people; roughly 86% of child marriages between 2000 and 2010 involved a minor married to an adult

This! AND BC's public sector employment rate is at about 20.5% right now. The Canadian provincial average? 21.5% You're being deceived on here by blue check millionaires and business associations. It's concerning.
This widely circulated private vs public sector jobs graph isn't right. the timeline is manipulated to 7 years to used the covid employment drop to rig the stats. If you use the standard 10 year time period, as per below, you get 39% public vs 23% private job creation:

At some point the media coverage needs to reflect how far out of touch this Minister and @fordnation education policy actually is. The original 4 boards under supervision were put there because of “financial mismanagement”. Bill 101 moved budget responsibilities to the new CEOs! There is absolutely no current justification for supervision. This attack on democracy continues to extend ministry centralization, while eliminating both transparency and accountability. @PaulCalandra and his merry band of patronage appointees have had total control for over 16 months. At what point does this Minister realize that he’s not up to the task? Candidates and voters in these 8 jurisdictions deserve to have the elected trustees sworn in the same day as ALL newly elected trustees. Bill 101 dramatically reduces trustee impact, the CEO’s option to veto trustee decisions and “not confirm” motions or decisions should be alarming. Let the public select their representatives and then allow them carry out their duties.
NEW: The Ford government says trustees in supervised school boards “will not be sworn in” immediately after next week's election. The province is asserting its power to call meetings in eight boards and trustees will only take their oath when the meeting is officially called. No timeline for when that will happen. globalnews.ca/news/12108029/… #onpoli

That's literally how Israel was created. Here's two British policemen they murdered, hung publicly, and placed hidden bombs on their bodies in order to kill those that tried to bury them.
I have never seen a mob of Jewish citizens migrate to other countries and riot. Ever.
