Rachel, a resident in Piddington Talking about how upsetting it is that the hard right and ppl coming in from outside the village - Daniel Thomas and plastic patriots. Rachel - "the use of fear as a means to rally and active..has encouraged the wrong type of views - outside ppl..this 5th wave of fascism is indicative of what happened in the late 80s.... Derbyshire then says local women are worried about asylum seeker men Rachel - "Reframe that.. 1200 men from EVERYWHERE would worry women..." She then breaks down at how upset she is living amongst racists. Excellent interview. Will upset the usual lot.

Here is something people should know. On 13 August the government had to REINSTATE information telling Windrush victims how the Adjudicator's Office can consider complaints about how the Home Office handled their compensation claim. That information had previously been removed. Victims already have to navigate reviews, evidence and decisions from the department responsible for the scandal. Why should finding out how to complain about that department ever be made harder? Windrush victims need a system built around THEM, not around the convenience of the @ukhomeoffice. @ShabanaMahmood @10DowningStreet @JacquiMckenzie6 @DefendWindrush @WindrushJC @DawnButlerBrent @TheVoiceNews #WindrushJustice #WindrushScandal #Accountability #HumanRights #TheChase

Windrush victims are still waiting for justice. Now we are living through a climate where racism is again becoming louder and more open, the very people the Home Office failed are being made to feel afraid all over again. Instead of putting things right, victims are still being made to fight, explain and prove what was done to them. How many more years are we supposed to wait before the Home Office understands that delay is not justice? #Windrush #WindrushJustice #HomeOffice

My mum died before getting compensation, it’s documented in the upheld ombudsman report how awful the scheme was, there was several failings, untrue statements that they doubled down on until the ombudsman report and zero compassion.
Even death does not release Windrush families from Home Office bureaucracy. When a victim dies before their claim is completed, their family can continue through the estate. But where probate is needed, the scheme caps reimbursable legal costs at £1,500 and requires the application to be successful before reimbursement. Victims die waiting for justice, then grieving families are handed more forms, legal hurdles and capped assistance to recover compensation that should have been paid while their loved one was alive. The government had years to settle these claims. Families should not inherit the fight alongside the grief. This is not compassion. It is cruelty administered through paperwork. @10DowningStreet @AndyBurnhamGM @ShabanaMahmood @YvetteCooperMP @Keir_Starmer @ukhomeoffice @UKLabour @CliveFoster3 @CommonsPAC @HumanRightsCtte @MoJGovUK @PHSOmbudsman @BBCNews @SkyNews @Channel4News @itvnews @guardian @Independent @The_Observer_UK @DailyMirror @thetimes @Telegraph @Reuters @LBC @BylineTimes @GoodLawProject @openDemocracy @TheCanaryUK @novaramedia @TheVoiceNews @DefendWindrush @WindrushPreston @JCWI_UK @libertyhq #Windrush #WindrushJustice #WindrushScandal #Justice4Windrush

The Windrush scandal stripped mainly Black Brits of their citizenship. It was a gross injustice & a forewarning of the potential future for minorities in the UK. Real people like Tricia & Vaun suffered immensely as a result of racist immigration laws. They deserve justice.

There is a myth, very widely held in Labour, that we achieved an huge popular victory in 2024 under Starmer. In fact we won 9.7 million votes, over 3 million fewer than in 2017 and half a million less than the 'disastrous' 2019 poll. We won because the Tories imploded in 2024.

The Voice is saddened to hear of the passing of Windrush pioneer Mr. Clarence Thompson MBE.🙏🏾 Mr. Clarence Thompson, born in Trinidad, was a social scientist, business teacher and chairman of the West Indian Standing Conference formed in 1958. The West Indian Standing Conference was formed following the Notting Hill race riots, to promote the interests of the African-Caribbean community to fight discrimination in employment and housing. Mr. Thompson received an MBE in 1965 for his work in race relations and activism. Rest in Peace Mr. Thompson.🕊️
