(1/n) Ever wonder how transcription factors locate, "invade," and activate their enhancers during cell fate acquisition? 🧬🚀Check out our latest collaborative work with the Soufi lab, now published in @Nature!
I'm excited to share that I've been promoted to Full Professor at the Hebrew University!
I'm incredibly grateful to my collaborators, and especially the amazing members of my lab, past and present. This milestone is as much yours as it is mine.
Now, back to the science! 🚀🧬

🔥A second preprint from our lab this week!
Especially proud of this one that helps unlock a black box in #reproduction.
We propose a morphogenetic framework for #oocyte production from germline stem cells in #zebrafish and from progenitors in humans.

We are looking for the floxed dnStat3 line (pd59Tg) - Tg(actb2:LOXP-DsRed-STOP-LOXP-dnstat3-GFP), which was generated by the Poss lab (or similar).
If anyone maintains the line and able to kindly share embryos, that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

New study from the lab! All kinds of good and bad and surprising things happen after sleeve gastrectomy bariatric surgery, but happens to the stomach itself? Does it “know” it has been sleeved? How?

New function for non-coding or "Junk" neutral DNA.
A previously uncharacterized DNA element adjacent to enhancers, termed the "signpost", functions to guide transcription factor binding.

(3/n) Our study reveals that transcription factor combinations use distinct strategies to locate enhancers:
OSKM factors leverage motif orientation within chromatin loops to target pluripotent enhancers.
GETM factors use looping junctions to locate trophectoderm enhancers.

Happy to share our recent collaborative study with the Cedar and Stanger labs, identifying the barrier responsible for incomplete epigenetic reprogramming in both in vitro and in vivo transdifferentiation models.

Interestingly, the lack of demethylation, rather than de novo methylation, on key developmental regulatory elements, plays a crucial role in the incomplete reprogramming process. Kudos to all the authors for this surprising and important discovery!👏 #Epigenetics #Reprogramming
