If you saw a group of dudes like this grabbing a neighbor or family member and trying to throw them in the back of a black, tinted-window van, what would you do? If they came for you, what would you do?
It's unacceptable for policing to look like this in America. This should both frighten and outrage anyone who wants the US to remain a free society.

So... the digital world has nearly eliminated friction (ChatGPT writes essays, Meta's AI plays your friend). The physical world drowns in it (Newark airport, infrastructure crumbles). And for those who can afford it, friction becomes an optional aesthetic choice (West Village living, curated experiences). This is an economic system where frictionlessness is this weird commodity and understanding it is really important. Warren Buffett sees it too. He warned of maintenance coming due as he stepped down this past weekend. The simulation economy can't run without physical infrastructure (as many have said) but we've optimized for short-term ease over long-term resilience. We've created three separate worlds operating on entirely different rules - and different levels of friction. link in next post, enjoy!

The craziest thing to me about the election is neither political party wanted to take credit for 3 of our biggest accomplishments as a nation this decade: 1. Operation warp speed 2. Energy independence 3. No recession from inflation/war

Today in "Facts That Sound Fake": There are more Fiat dealerships in the U.S. than new *Fiats sold* in Q2. 300+ Fiat dealerships vs 144 new vehicles sold. Fiat -- more like Fi-out-of-business 🙃

@radleybalko’s questions include this one on the death penalty: “If you don’t trust government to, say, regulate the environment or promote public health, why do you trust the government to justly, fairly, and competently take a life?”

The problem with the naive-libertarian-conspiracy-theorist cluster is that they hold two incompatible central beliefs. Governments are: + incompetent & incapable of delivering stuff + capable of executing an intricate conspiracy to secretly control you

My new favorite thing - Bing's new ChatGPT bot argues with a user, gaslights them about the current year being 2022, says their phone might have a virus, and says "You have not been a good user" Why? Because the person asked where Avatar 2 is showing nearby
