This isn’t hockey related or injury related but I still share and promote general health and medicine knowledge
In 2025, the black box warning of hormone therapy for women in menopause/perimenopause highlighting cardiovascular risk was removed
A new systematic review posted on October 6th sharpened evidence and confirmed that hormone therapy remained the benchmark therapy for menopausal vasomotor symptoms
Perimenopause and menopause is a confusing time, which is why I have wrote a book that highlights what it is, treatment options (hormonal and non-hormonal) and provides tons of tools to guide you or a loved one through the time!

Scary play as Eetu Luostarinen crashed hard into the boards
He returned to the game which is great news but let’s break down some general possibilities
His left ankle inverts at first which could cause any ankle sprain or fracture
Main concern of course on the boards and his whole left side
Strong mechanism of injury for AC joint sprains/separations, dislocated shoulders, broken arms/wrists especially how his left arm seems to be exposed
William Ekland had surgery done to fix a torn ankle tendon and is out 10-12 weeks
Given these clues and the mechanism of the video, it could be likely that the peroneal tendon was the tendon fixed
There are multiple tendons grouped into this with the peroneus brevis classically occurring during inversion injuries
Posterior tibial tendon tear is possible too but is often more a degenerative injury but occurs with severe eversion which isn’t as visible here
Roope Hintz supposedly couldn’t speak to the media yesterday as he was with the team doctor
Reports that he was icing his hand after this massive fight he got into with Mackinnon, he got some good licks in
Punching is a pretty common mechanism of a broken hand, specifically what is called a “Boxer’s Fracture”, which is a fracture if the fifth metacarpal bone (the long bone that connects the pinky to the wrist)
Replying to @FanDuelSports
No goals no goals
Jordan Stall of the Hurricanes is out 1-2 months with a calf tear
This long of a return time signals a rather higher grade calf muscle tear and/or one involving connective tissue
There are many muscles that make up the calf that could be involved, the most common being a gastrocnemius tear
Calf injuries are notorious for not healing the greatest and reinjury rates; this is due to the type of tissues that are typically injured in the calf
Stall isn’t necessarily a spring chicken anymore so hopefully he come back strong
Here is a good return to play protocol for anterior shoulder stability that Conor Bedard may have had a version of
We didn’t know his injury but the accelerated return and initial timeline leads to a shoulder dislocation/soft tissue injury being likely
These is a dominant concern for reinjury, especially given the faster return
Ice hockey has the single highest recurrence of this type of injury than any other sport!
This depends on a lot of factors such as age, extent of injury, and type of procedure done
Still good for Bedard and the struggling #Blackhawks though
Interesting situation with Jacob Melanson of the #SeaKraken
He suffered from an “anterior mediastinum hematoma with vascular pseudo aneurysm”
What that means is that a blood vessel in his chest was damaged allowing to collect behind his breastbone
Some escaped blood formed a pocket held in place by other tissue rather than the normal vessel wall
This can be very serious as the damaged vessel can bleed more and the blood can press on nearby structures
Prayers are up for Melanson and hoping for a fantastic recovery
