Wait now they’re telling me that making a game with AI is hard? I thought they’ve been telling us how easy it is to make their own game now? So which one is it?
In theory, why would I want to buy your ai generated game if I could just ai generate it myself?

EA was bought by a private equity firm a couple of years ago. I need every single chud gamer to hear this: this is what is ACTUALLY ruining gaming—not “DEI” or “wokeness.” Private equity wrings out industries for profit—sacrificing quality in the process. Now we won’t get ME4.
EA is shutting down BioWare, the studio behind ‘Dragon Age’ and ‘Mass Effect’. The next ‘Mass Effect’ game has been cancelled as a result. (Source: bloomberg.com/news/articles/…)

This is why the only future for devs is to become art weirdos who smoke 18 cigarettes a day and make the equivalent of kino auteur cinema. Pretentious? Yes. But what other future is there?
When you see stuff like this, it paints a dark future for game devs… I thought the article was just talking about clones in general but they actually used Claude to decompile the code and then released a dupe using their code. How can anyone defend this?

Perma banning people for stuff like this is so incredibly cringe. Where is your whimsy???
We acknowledge there are a subset of players exploiting a bug with ground vehicles that allow them to 'fly' around the map. We are actively working on a server sided hotfix for this. In the meantime, anyone caught abusing will be perma banned. You have been warned.

Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of Super Smash Bros. and Kirby, is warning that AI could lead to a flood of unoriginal games. Sakurai points out that Steam has gone from around 275 game releases a year in 2010 to more than 19,000 today “AI can create games, but it can’t create something truly original.” Sakurai also argues that originality means creating something players don’t even know they want yet. He uses Fumito Ueda as an example, saying AI could imitate the style of games like ICO or Shadow of the Colossus, but it wouldn’t know what Ueda himself would create next.

Removing steam greenlight has done so much irreparable damage to Steam. If you use generative Ai in your game for "creativity" purposes, I will NEVER buy your game because it shows mevthat you never had any faith in your product.
Steam Next Fest is facing huge backlash over the rise of AI-slop and low-effort games. The October event has 8,011 demos, nearly twice as many as June., developers say the flood of low-quality “AI slop” is making it harder for real indie games worth to play Back in June, roughly 1 in 5 games at Steam Next Fest disclosed using AI. Now, just a few months later, that number has jumped to around 1 in 3. Some developers have even avoided public demos because they fear their games could be copied.

The audacity to feed Machinarium assets to AI, make AI slop animations, and call it a love letter… Love letters are supposed to be handwritten. This looks disgusting and has nothing to do with us or our craft.
