Thousands of Colorado voters received false text messages warning that Amendment 87 would “hike taxes” on seniors and veterans.
This is “not supported by the text of the measure.”

Thanks Scott! The measure requires all taxable net income to be taxed. This would be a strict mandate in the state constitution. State deductions and subtractions would be on the chopping block. It’s pretty straightforward. Bell Policy made a choice to do it this way. #copolitics

Amendment 87 would tax Coloradans making $500k+ a year. Opponents including Gov Jared Polis (D) are misleadingly claiming it will raise taxes on low-income seniors and vets.

Taxing the rich helps fund vital public services and makes tax codes fairer.
It's also one of the most effective tools available for advancing racial equity.
Four states this year passed new tax laws showing how this can be done.

A graduated income tax isn’t “socialism.” It’s just fairness.
Under Amendment 87 97% of taxpayers will get an income tax cut. People who make over $500,000 a year will see a small increase. The revenue will help cover the things we need most. progressnow.co/2026/09/04/vo… #copolitics

I asked Michael if he can show us where CO's newly qualified graduated income tax proposal gets rid of tax breaks for low income seniors and veterans. He can't, because its not in there. #copolitics
Blaming Title Board is a weak argument. Bell Policy chose to use sloppy language in order to avoid needing to get 55%. I’m sure they already regret it. #copolitics

Reminder to your followers. You messed up the language (or did it on purpose) and are going to increase taxes on seniors and veterans. You’re also raising taxes on tens of thousands of small businesses. Voters are going to have all the info before they vote! #copolitics

There are plenty of valid reasons to oppose CO’s graduated tax proposal, but this slop about raising taxes on seniors & veterans is the definition of misinformation. Read the measure. You’ll find nothing that does that. It’s says a lot that this is their main talking point.
Not only would all seniors on social security and veterans with military pensions pay more under your tax hike, but you’re also working directly with Prop NN supporters to raise taxes on all Coloradans by taking away their TABOR tax refunds. That’s up to $7.2 billion in increased taxes! #copolitics
