Birmingham City Council routinely sprays our verges, pavements and parks with glyphosate-based weedkillers despite the negative impact this controversial chemical has on bees & other pollinators in our local environment We want this to stop. Now. #BeeSafe bit.ly/BeeSafeBrum

Help us prevent wildfires in Birmingham's parks and green spaces Wildfires in parts of the UK and mainland Europe, demonstrate the damage fire can cause to wildlife, habitats and communities. In hot, dry weather it only takes a single spark to start a fire. Cllr Deborah Harries, Cabinet Member for Culture, is asking residents to help by: ✅ Leaving BBQs at home ✅ Taking litter and glass bottles home with you ✅ Disposing of cigarettes safely ✅ Reporting signs of fire immediately Together, we can help protect each other, wildlife and our green spaces this summer

This Christmas @Grok, maybe you could remind anyone who is upset with Mary being a bit browner than they are used to that Maryam is the most honoured mother of Jesus in the Qur'an as well as the Bible. Has her own chapter She's a shared point of reverence between a great many ❤️

Nearly half of the UK’s garden space is paved over, a new study has found. The RHS has conducted the largest ever audit of the UK’s gardens, and found that they are an untapped – and until now, mostly unmeasured – potential resource for nature. theguardian.com/environment/…

There is an inequality in the amount of garden space available to people in regions across the UK, the report found. For example, 41% of London was categorised as garden compared with just 19% in Leeds, 25% in Edinburgh and 27% in Cardiff theguardian.com/environment/…

More than a quarter of community gardens, which provide green space for people who do not have private gardens of their own, are surviving on budgets of less than £500 a year, and less than 3% of community garden groups own their own land. theguardian.com/environment/…

Another big shout out for everyone who's keeping the towpaths clean & clear of rubbish along this stretch of the canal. Simple idea of bin liners is working with community responding. The real estate running along this part of the canal must be delighted. #LookUpBirmingham

Regarding Russia’s attacks against European countries: Russia is testing their ability to defend themselves and trying to influence societies so people begin to ask: “If we can’t protect ourselves, why should we keep supporting Ukraine?” This is intended to reduce assistance to Ukraine, especially ahead of winter. 92 drones were headed toward Poland. We intercepted them over Ukrainian territory, 19 reached their airspace. Still, we see the direction, so to speak the choreography of this flight. Italy may be next. You see Norway, Denmark. There are signals from Sweden. There are Romanians, Poles, the Baltic states. Putin is testing what the Europeans have. Some countries may worry about transferring air-defense systems to Ukraine and decide to keep them at home. But it doesn’t work that way. You can’t use systems like Patriot to shoot down every drone – there simply aren’t that many interceptors in the world. What’s needed instead is knowledge: the expertise of our mobile fire teams, our drone operators, the leadership of our air forces, and commanders of our air-defense units.

To Whom It May Concern, Save Gaza before it’s too late—before death completes its mission, before the last landmark, the last memory, the last stone disappears. Gaza is being consumed by destruction and occupation. Don’t leave it to hunger and death. Stop the bleeding before it is erased from existence.

Awful to discover that Birmingham City Council used 15,788 litres of herbicides in our public spaces in 2024, at a cost of £246k. This is damaging our health and destroying our biodiversity. @CllrMajid when is this going to stop? @PreetKGillMP @BeeFriendlyBrum @Marcus4NE
