Have you posted a Christmas Card recently? 🎄✉️
Well, I went behind the scenes at the Birmingham Mail Centre to follow the journey of a letter from my desk right to your doorstep.
It’s that time of the year again …
2024 in books 👇🏼
Top 3 reads of the year:
1. Demon Copperhead, Barbara Kingsolver
2. I Who Have Never Known Men, Jacqueline Harpman
3. Small Wars in Madrid, @AnthonyFerner
Pleasure to join @PreetKGillMP and @Cllr_suleman on a @WMLabour training session about what it’s like to be a councillor.
Lots of great questions from those thinking about standing in 2026 🌹

Lovely morning dropping into St Germain’s and Christ Church Summerfield as residents came to pick up their food bags and slow cookers.
Over 100 bags distributed this morning 🎉
Bags packed and ready for collection for our @NorthEdgbaston Christmas Appeal tomorrow.
With thanks to Tesco, for taking our order, M Sharif & Sons, for being our transport, and volunteers at St Germain’s who spent Wednesday evening packing 125 individual bags!

Thanks also to local residents and businesses who helped source some final items at very short notice. We are very grateful to have such a strong community in @NorthEdgbaston.

Great to host @StPaulsSchGirls @GeorgeDixonAcad students at the council house to discuss devolution. Huge thanks to Ed Cox from @WestMids_CA for speaking to the students and to @RichParkerLab for his video message.

I'm delighted to confirm that Birmingham City Council, UNISON and GMB have reached a framework agreement to settle the historic equal pay claims brought by the two unions on behalf of members working for the local authority and Birmingham Children’s Trust.
Thanks to @NorthEdgbaston community members we’re now only 20 short 🙏
Odd request but can anyone fulfil (and possibly deliver) an order of 80 individual packets of rice tomorrow. Paid in full.
We’re packing boxes for our @NorthEdgbaston Christmas Appeal and short on this product!
Please RT.

Delighted to share the two winning designs for our @NorthEdgbaston Christmas Card competition 🎄
Today we dropped in to both schools to thank the winners and award them a prize.
Cards will be hitting doormats across the ward over the next two weeks!
Pleased to hear we’re getting another covert surveillance camera in @NorthEdgbaston with a view to catching and fining those dumping rubbish from vehicles.
My comments in committee last month 👇🏼
Contrary to notices placed by @BearwoodCouncil streets in our @NorthEdgbaston ward will not be annexed by Bearwood 😅
We will however be making enquiries about joining the hot gravy network. Delivering for our residents.
