Another very enjoyable day on the WWII Museum Easy Company tour around Bastogne. Quite interesting to see the events of December 1944 through a single small unit. Watching @BattlefieldDisc create and maintain his narrative and a wider historical context is interesting.

A lovely day in NL. A good time for a long walk through the fields of our beautiful parish of Nuenen, Gerwen and Nederwetten, I passed this marker commemorating trooper Edward Mons Wilson, kia 21 Sept 1944. Long unidentified, I uncovered his name a few years. Still proud of this.

It was great seeing my mate Joris @battlefieldexpl talk last Monday about the fighting in 1944 around his hometown of Veghel. Well done mate!

A twilight trot around trenches last night with the fine folk @GreatWarHuts - I think this is the 3rd sell out year. The Christmas Truce 1914 - whatever you believe, read or hear the Hutters really do bring it to life. It’s the start of Christmas for me.

Looking down on Foy from the Easy Company positions in the Bois Jacques. For about two weeks the men studied every detail of the village, thus Shifty Powers noticed one morning an extra tree. This turned out to be a camouflaged AA gun and was duly taken out by American artillery

After a couple of wonderful days attending the Conference at the NWW2M, meeting up with museum staff, authors, guides and tour managers and former tour guests, the next phase of our US trip started. On our way to Tulsa with a long layover in Dallas.

On our way to Oklahoma we have a stop over in Dallas - so a trip to the Medal of Honour Museum. This year we covered the story of the Lost Battalion on a tour in the summer so to see Charles Whittersley’s MoH was a real privilege. A fabulous museum

Robert Edsel talking about his book Remember Us - the story of Margraten and the Grave Adoption Program - at the NWW2M International Conference of WW2. A story well worth telling. Can’t help to feel proud being Dutch and a adoptant of one of the soldiers at Margraten myself.
