We appreciate the Council’s recognition of the value the Baltimore Ravens bring to Baltimore County. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with the @Ravens, supporting their long-term investment in Owings Mills, and keeping the team’s headquarters in Baltimore County for decades to come.

By modernizing our operations and updating outdated rules that no longer match today’s business needs, we can cut red tape and more efficiently serve our residents. I am grateful to our partners on the County Council for passing the Council Action Modernization and Procedural Efficiency Act tonight. Under this legislative package, the County can move more quickly to execute service contracts, accept grant funds, and purchase real estate to support County programs—while finding efficiencies in daily operations.

INSPIRE at Edenwald will be the very first University Retirement Community in Maryland. Seniors will be able to enjoy college courses, learn alongside students, and even participate in study-abroad programs. We're very grateful for everyone involved in bringing this project to life.

Strong communities start with people who care about their neighbors and step up to help. This year’s Community Heroes are feeding children, supporting families, strengthening our neighborhoods and giving others a chance to be heard. I’m proud to thank them for the time, care, and hard work they give to Baltimore County. Congratulations!

So very grateful to cut the ribbon on the brand new Deer Park Elementary School this morning! ✏️ When we give students the resources they deserve, they can achieve much more than we ever thought possible.

The newly-constructed school is the first elementary in Baltimore County—and Maryland—to be net-zero, meaning it produces as much energy as it uses. It comes with 300 new seats for students and state-of-the-art, 21st century learning spaces designed to inspire.

We're working to make sure residents have clear, accurate information and can remain confident that their drinking water is safe. Please visit tr.ee/A38nAY for more information on changes taking place October 5.
Beginning Monday, October 5, the @BaltimoreDPW will begin withdrawing water from the Susquehanna River to supplement water from the Prettyboy and Loch Raven reservoirs. Susquehanna water will be blended with Loch Raven water before being treated and tested at the Montebello water treatment plants. You may notice a slight change in taste, odor or color in your water. It will remain safe for drinking, bathing, and cooking. The length of time that Susquehanna River water will be used will depend on rainfall, reservoir recovery, and overall water-supply conditions. The blended water will primarily serve areas supplied by the Montebello plants, including portions of Baltimore County. Areas supplied by the Liberty system are not expected to receive Susquehanna River water. For more information, please visit tr.ee/A38nAY.

We’re disappointed to learn that Guinness plans to close its doors in Halethorpe and recognize the uncertainty this brings for its employees and their families. Baltimore County’s workforce development team will be available to help anyone impacted connect with resources and new job opportunities. Our diverse economy is a source of strength and resilience, and we will continue supporting our local businesses while attracting new investment that creates jobs and expands opportunities for our residents.
Guinness is shutting down its Maryland brewery, its parent company Diageo North America, Inc., announced Thursday. buff.ly/1rbHyO6

We heard clearly from residents that they want these pools open, affordable, and available to their communities. We’re proud to reopen both pools this month with discounted memberships and hours that reflect feedback. We’ll keep listening as we build on these services and develop additional programming.
Jump in! 💦 The indoor pools at the Dundalk and Randallstown Community Centers will reopen this month offering open swim, discounted monthly memberships, and daily admission during an initial pilot period. Join @BaltCoRec at our open houses to jump in the water, sign up for memberships, and learn about the aquatics pilot program! Containment and recovery efforts continue along the Long Quarter Branch tributary. Crews have walked accessible portions of Long Quarter Branch and are checking areas where fuel may have collected. They are also inspecting underground storm drainage lines with a camera. Containment and sorbent booms are in place at several locations, and crews continue to recover fuel. Baltimore County is responding to a diesel fuel leak from a backup generator at the Baltimore County Detention Center. The leak was discovered late Saturday and has been stopped. Residents near local streams may notice a diesel odor. Baltimore County is working alongside Baltimore City, the Maryland Department of the Environment, the United States Coast Guard, and additional resource partners to clean up the spill and assess nearby waterways, including the area near Loch Raven Reservoir. There is no impact to drinking water. We will continue to keep residents updated as we receive more information.
