Enough with the same tired scare tactics. Isaias must go. Will the transition be hard? Absolutely. He gutted Eritrea’s institutions and jailed academics. The risks are real, but why pretend Eritreans aren’t already paying the price for keeping him in power?

Isaias Afwerki stood in Moscow and declared the African Union dead. This is the same regime whose intelligence service, according to a 2011 UN Monitoring Group report, planned a bomb attack on the AU summit in Addis Ababa. Isaias Afwerki and the PFDJ have never respected African institutions, because at home they answer to no parliament, no independent court and no constitution. We in EBRF have a plan for a democratic Eritrea that takes its place in Africa as a lawful and constructive partner, and we are organizing to make that transition happen.

Isaias Afwerki's declaration in Moscow that the African Union is dead exposes his contempt for African unity.
In 2011, a UN Security Council investigation implicated Eritrean intelligence, under General Te'ame Goitom, in a terrorist plot to bomb AU headquarters with an explosive packed car in Addis Ababa, targeting African leaders and civilians, including Merkato.
Ethiopia foiled the operation and arrested suspects. Today, activists aligned with Isaias continue rhetoric about terrorizing and bombing Addis Ababa from within.
What gives this regime the power to disrupt the Horn of Africa and its people while undermining its institutions? Africa must demand accountability, reject intimidation and support a peaceful political transition. Eritrea deserves a future beyond authoritarian rule. @_AfricanUnion @UNSC_Reports @UN @ifa_ethiopia, @MFAEthiopia, @INSAEthio

@_hudsonc the core issue of regional instability in the form Africa is #Eritrean #PFDJ interference in neighboring countries affairs while repressing our people, denying the basic rights & ruled without constitution & rule of law. Also Tsimdo with #TPLF risks further escalation. Lasting peace cannot be achieved while #PFDJ’s remains in power; PFDJ militarized politics continue to fuel regional instability! The time for change is now! #RegimeChangeInEritrea for lasting peace across the Horn of Africa. #EBRF

If this report is true, it tells Eritreans everything about the state Isaias Afwerki has built. A ruler who lectures the world about sovereignty reportedly needed Egypt to pay for the charter flight that brought him home from Moscow. Thirty years of PFDJ rule have left Eritrea isolated, without a working economy, and dependent on whichever foreign patron finds Isaias useful in its own rivalries. That is not sovereignty. We in EBRF are organizing for a democratic Eritrea whose foreign policy is decided by an elected government, serves our people, and builds honest relations with all our neighbours. Our plan for that transition is ready.

@AlexanderA86901 is right: a fixed end date only means something if the first national vote is real. Eritrea has not held a national election since independence, so EBRF's transition has to build the machinery of a free vote from the ground up, not just announce a date.
That means an independent electoral commission that answers to the law, not to the PFDJ. It means legalising political parties and letting them organise, campaign and meet voters without fear. It means lifting the ban on independent media so citizens can hear more than one voice, and freeing political prisoners so those jailed for asking for reform can take part. It means an honest voter register, published rules and votes counted in the open, with independent and international observers welcome.
This is the difference between a peaceful constitutional transition and a mere change of faces. Under the 1997 Constitution, power must come from the ballot and be checked by an elected National Assembly and independent courts. That is the path EBRF and @BlueFront90547 have set out, with @BeyeneGerezghe1 carrying it to partners abroad.
Partners who care about stability in the Horn of Africa can help by backing that timeline, supporting civic and electoral preparation, and making clear that future engagement with Eritrea is tied to a credible vote.

#EBRF #BlueRevolution #RegimeChangeInEritrea
A democratic transition in Eritrea is not a vague hope. EBRF has set out a concrete path. Implement the 1997 Constitution that Isaias Afwerki and the PFDJ ratified and then buried. Hold a transition with a fixed end date that leads to free and fair elections, the first national vote in more than thirty years. Build an independent judiciary so the G15, the journalists jailed in 2001 and thousands of other prisoners are accounted for and freed. End indefinite national service so young Eritreans can build their lives at home instead of fleeing. A regime that has refused every reform for three decades will not reform itself. Eritreans deserve institutions, not one man's rule.
