What is heartless is prioritizing non emergencies in favor of patients who would actually need a therapeutic intervention fast. For a stroke patient or an AMI every minute counts for a hurt foot it doesnt matter. And both cases go to the ER and are seen by the same ppl
The backlog in science will be the running of experiments not the compute part. If anything the impact of AI would need years to translate into something practical in biology and medicine at least.
