Ifukube worked on the Godzilla ‘54 score for several months. He received the script in the summer of that year and recorded it in October, shortly before the film’s release on November 3, 1954.

In the 1954 film, it was Ifukube who created the sound effect of Godzilla’s footfalls. The sound was created by an amplifier box that, when struck, created the jarring boom that you hear in the film whenever the monster takes a step.
