One thing I notice w/more novice directors when editing for them - their attention to continuity. Don't get me wrong - I think it's important at times, but I really have let go of little things perfectly matching if the performance is there. But I rarely convince the director.

Ben Affleck on Digger
like high school bullying … you see it now with Digger a pretty ambitious interesting movie made by interesting people who have talent … if you punish movies that take risks … you’re gonna get a bunch of homogenized movies
Loved CINEFX - the best magazine about movies and VFX ever. I miss reading it.
If you're a fan of #VFX and want to know about the making of some of your favorite sci-fi & fantasy films check out the now out-of-print CINEFEX back issues in an on-going online archive by publisher Don Shay. This was by far the most in-depth & well-respected publication on the subject of special effects in film. One PDF at the bottom of this search page has ALL the issues combined. Trust me when I say this is a TREASURE TROVE of vfx how-to's, interviews & lore--check them out, it's all FREE. archive.org/search?query=sub…
I remember when movie theaters had 2 (or more) working snack bars. The theater near our house still has a second one there, but they never use it...kinda sad. Back in the day, both were packed. A reminder of a once glorious past.
The #Postseason is here, and we’re celebrating by giving away an official 2026 World Series baseball ⚾️

Film editing rule I live by that has nothing to do with keyboard shortcuts, technology, plugins, or technical skill.
Hey @axs - your ticket upgrade system sounds great, but it isn't working at all for me on my system I try.
.@ryangrim Your open today on Breaking Points was hilarious. You and @emilyjashinsky are my favorite part of Wednesday.
Just past 8:30 in the morning and it's already 91 degrees. Buckle up San Diego, it's going to be a hot one
Lived through the '80s and unless he's talking about some alternative timeline, not sure what he's talking about.
Ryan Reynolds says ’80s nostalgia “paves over all the trauma” of the “tumultuous” decade:
“The 80s was a brutal, brutal time for people. It was a fucking mess and people forget that. It was a tremendous strife. Socio political tensions everywhere. We were still pretty fresh off a Cuban missile crisis, which was only 15-20 years before. It’s a tumultuous period, but you look back at it now and you’re like, ‘Oh, yeah. ‘Top Gun.’ Cocaine!’ Like, ‘No!’ It was really scary.”
In Apple TV’s “Mayday,” Reynolds stars as a U.S. Navy pilot who builds an unlikely friendship with an eccentric ex-KGB agent (Kenneth Branagh) obsessed with ’80s American culture.

Back in 2024 I got hired to edit a short film for director Michelle Kaumeyer Hoffman, and proud to say it had a great festival run and is now out on YouTube.

After writing screenplays professionally for 29 years, here are ten random things I wish I knew before I started:
Saw this last night with the kids. We all loved it. If you grew up with Bugs Bunny and Looney Tunes...do yourself a favor and go see @CoyoteACMEMovie
@Criterion - expect this as a release from you next year.
@warnerbros - WTH were you thinking NOT wanting to release this??
Indiana Jones & Star Wars themes are the best. Would love to see this.
