WriterDojo is BACK!
For those who don't know, that's a podcast hosted by me and Steve Diamond about writing and the publishing business. We've got over 150 episodes on a wide variety of topics with a bunch of great guests.
The show is to help writers and aspiring writers, but if you're a reader and want to see how the sausage is made, the show is fun.
We've been on hiatus for the last year dude to Steve's job (our last episode was an interview with @TheCriticalDri2 back in February of 2025!) but the first episode of the new season came out today.

This is the last part of a fun Call of Cthulhu adventure I ran for these guys. It takes place in the future on a starship & distant planet, showing that Call of Cthulhu is eternal. Also that advanced technology can't always save the day.
Here is Cthulhu flying through space.
It has arrived!!
The conclusion of “We Will Still be Monkeys,” a futuristic space adventure.
Written and GM’d by the great @SandyofCthulhu & Bureaucrated by the stupendous @monsterhunter45!

At id Software, when we did Quake, somehow we managed to sign up Trent Reznor to do the music. I don't know who pulled this off (Jay Wilbur?) but everyone thought it was quite a coup. Except for me, because I had no idea who Trent was. I'd never listened to Nine Inch Nails. I only listened to crappy old stuff and got mocked pretty hard for it by Adrian Carmack.
Anyway, Trent came to visit the studio, and he was very polite. They went out to dinner with him and some friends, but I did not go, though I was invited. In looking back, I can't believe I was such a numbnuts.
But maybe it's just as well that I didn't go. THIS NEXT IS ALL JUST HEARSAY BECAUSE I SAW NONE OF IT.
Someone put PCP in American McGee's drink, and he got a super-bad headache and had to go home early. I was told that for sure it wasn't Mr. Reznor who was way too classy for shenanigans. Someone thought it was one of the guys from Pantera (whom I didn't know would be at the dinner) but I have zero evidence to back this up. All I know is that it wasn't one of the id Software guys and that it wasn't Mr. Reznor himself. But hey I guess if you party with rock stars it's a risk.
To be fair I don't even know for sure that American McGee had PCP. I wasn't there. As far as I know he didn't get tested. Maybe it was just a headache combined with too much drinking & a leap to a conclusion. But I also think it sounds kind of likely.

A Horror Adventure. Last night I had a dream in which I was required to run a horror adventure for a new group of players. Just before running it, I discovered that the Arkham Files film of WE WILL STILL BE MONKEYS had aired, so now I didn't have an adventure ready. I would have to wing it.
This is all in the dream, mind you. Also, WE WILL STILL BE MONKEYS isn't yet online. 1/6

Calling Ernie , or by proxy his father, a racist, on the day of his death notice is beyond vile. These craven, depraved, forked tonged rats are beyond contempt.
Before I was a grown man, before I was tall, before I was strong, before I had learned my own value, I was a fat dorky Black kid, one of a handful in my classes in San Francisco. Dungeons and Dragons, and the works Ernie contributed to taught me to believe in hero stories, to stand up against monsters, to protect the innocent (even if you got paid in "fat loot" along the way), and to know that demons deserved the blade not your allegiance. In short, it welcomed me and my friends in, helped us grow and learn, and instilled a life long sense of right from wrong.
It never was some bastion of racism, nor were the originators anymore "racist" than anyone else, which is to say, not very much at all, and in fact, likely less so...they liked to think of themselves as heroes....
To pick fights with the Gygax family in general, but on this day, is to play the bully, to attack other "geeks" because you believe we are going to take it, we're going to cower, to submit. We are going to sit back while you taint kind words with your vileness.
Well, many of us aren't small anymore, many of us aren't defined by our faults but by our virtues. And we've spent a lifetime dreaming about fighting monsters. And you fit the bill!
Those attacking Ernie can Fuck Right Off.
Anyone can partake in the hobby, for better or for worse, so I won't gatekeep them out...that being said the only "us" worth noting is those of us that know what true goodness is against those that weaponize their supposed empathy for power over others.
Rest in Peace Ernie, we'll take out the trash on our way out

In Memoriam: Ernie Gygax. I did not know him as well as I would have liked but we did touch base at a few GenCons.
My guess is he’s getting together a D&D game with his dad, Dave Arneson, and other friends right now.

Been looking to dive into an RPG system that isn't D&D and this is right up my alley. Excited to listen to the episode.
Trying to control my impulse to just buy everything that looks cool, but failing. Starter set, anniversary leather bound books and Tarot cards?!
