The Nasiphi praise singing has been one of the most delusional features of South African politics. She willingly appoints Eugene Modise (ANC) as Finance MMC. And now this disaster. We know that water is bad - but why no communication?
Tshwane runs out of chlorine at Bronko. Fails to inform public or do anything for 3 weeks. 400 people get sick. And now cholera bacteria is detected the water. Who benefits from Tshwane running out of chlorine for 3 weeks? The water tanker contractors who now have to step in.

South Africa will entrench political fragmentation with a frustrated electorate lacking enthusiasm for any alternative. Sounds a bit like large parts of the democratic world!
If the rough average of the polls is right, it means that 2026 will essentially reproduce 2024 voting patterns exactly but just with some turnout tweaks. I.e. nothing has changed. Somewhat amusing.

Honestly, @DereleenJ’s campaign for Cape Town mayor is flopping, well, as it should. What exactly is she offering residents? Where is the solid manifesto? All we see are attacks on Geordin Hill-Lewis and attempts to make Coloured people believe the DA doesn’t care about them. Cape Town needs real solutions, not race-baiting and constant political mudslinging. Talk to people about what you’ll actually do for them.

You stole from a dying Beaufort West municipality as a seated mayor, lied about R3m in a "trust" where you paid half out of your pocket to keep up the lie. Imagine trusting you with Cape Town OnsBaizaNieKakNie polity.org.za/article/court-…

When we made the decision to reorientate the basic education system towards the foundations of learning in 2024; it was just a strategy on paper. An idea. Backed up by evidence of what was happening in countries with strong education systems. Tomorrow, we convene the second Bana Pele Leadership Summit - that brings together government, corporate SA, civil society and the ECD sector together. I believe in setting benchmarks; with clear timelines. Tomorrow is an opportunity to tell South Africans how we have moved from 23 undertakings on paper to implementation. I really believe that this work will undo the education injustice in our country. Ensuring that the circumstances of a child’s birth will not determine their success in school and beyond. Oh man. Advocating for this country’s children is a responsibility I do not take lightly. 🇿🇦📚

This polar bear died of starvation in its homeland, which is supposed to be teeming with prey. Photographer and biologist Paul Nicklen, who has spent more than 30 years in the Arctic, says that during most of those years he only came across one dead polar bear, and then within just two weeks his team found two that had died of starvation. Polar bears rely on sea ice to hunt seals, and with rising temperatures and receding ice, the search for food becomes longer and more difficult, potentially ending with some of them dying of hunger.

Oh, but that wall is not to help increase safety on the N2 but to hide the informal settlements. Well, that's the prevailing narrative anyway.
SMASH-AND-GRAB ATTACK REPORTED ON N2 Another smash-and-grab incident was reported today near the Airport Approach turn-off on the N2, heading towards Somerset West. Motorists are urged to remain vigilant, keep valuables out of sight and avoid leaving space for criminals to approach their vehicles.

I’m sorry man Cape Town in general (rich and poor areas) has better infrastructure than JHB in general. The whole ‘rich areas’ only stuff is a lie that’s been peddled way too much and is not backed any substantive data. Poorer areas in CT get way more capital investment than JHB’s rich and poor areas.
