It's criminal negligence, those officials must be fired and then charged.
More than 400 cases of gastrointestinal illnesses have been reported in the east of Pretoria, mostly affecting young children. Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya says officials at the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Works failed to report the chlorine problem to the City, and they failed to alert residents that the water had not been chlorinated. Tune in to #eNCA on #DStv403.

The problem isnt that the water is unsafe. It that they tried to hide it and didnt warn residents.
That goes beyond simple negligence.
The City of Tshwane has been blasted for failing to warn residents that their water was unsafe.

URGENT WARNING:
408 GASTROINTESTINAL ILLNESS CASES IN TSHWANE -CONTAMINATED WATER LINKED TO OUTBREAK
Authorities have linked 408 cases of gastrointestinal illness reported between 7 and 18 October 2026 to contaminated water supplied by the City of Tshwane’s Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Works.
📍 Affected areas: Zithobeni, Bronkhorstspruit, Dark City, Rethabiseng and Sokhulumi.
🔴 Most patients are children under four years old. No deaths have been reported.
🔴 Laboratory tests detected Norovirus, Campylobacter and Shigella in patient samples. No cholera bacteria were found in the stool samples tested.
🔴 Water tests revealed extremely high levels of E. coli and total coliforms.
🔴 Investigators found that the treatment plant’s water was not chlorinated between 24 September and 14 October because of problems with the chlorine supplier. The water source is also affected by sewage pollution.
🔴 The City of Tshwane closed the plant on 14 October, restored chlorine supplies and reopened it on 16 October, but the water remains unsafe for drinking.
🚱 URGENT WARNING TO RESIDENTS
Until further notice, residents in areas supplied by the plant must NOT use tap water for drinking, cooking, bathing, brushing teeth, washing food or clothes -even after boiling. Tap water may only be used for flushing toilets.
The City is supplying safe drinking water through tankers, with 36 tankers planned in total. Residents should collect water from these tankers and store it in clean, covered containers.
The Water Research Commission is conducting independent tests, with initial results expected from Wednesday. An investigation into the causes of the contamination is due by 28 October.
Authorities have initiated accountability measures, while health teams continue monitoring cases and educating communities.
The warning remains in force until authorities confirm that the water is safe.

Nasiphi Moya crowned herself the goddess of Tshwane the moment black support and an ANC-EFF coalition handed her the mayoral chain. She walks around convinced she’s untouchable. Meanwhile, over 400 residents (mostly young children) fell ill in Bronkhorstspruit after weeks of unchlorinated, contaminated water, taps stay dry across the city, water losses have climbed to 41%+, and tanker scandals pile up. She still insists there’s “no water crisis.” Attitude and a saviour complex don’t fill taps or keep kids safe. Tshwane needs competence, not a self-appointed deity. #VoetsekActionSA

🚨 The confirmation that Cholera has been found in Tshwane water and Mayor Nasiphi Moya’s admission of negligence in the unfolding public health crisis demand urgent action.
This failure has left hundreds of residents ill and has devastating effects!
Stop the chaos. Start service delivery.

Tshwane runs out of chlorine at Bronko. Fails to inform public or do anything for 3 weeks. 400 people get sick. And now cholera bacteria is detected the water. Who benefits from Tshwane running out of chlorine for 3 weeks? The water tanker contractors who now have to step in.

Aline started working at age 12.
Over the next three decades she built La Barrique, a restaurant in Paris’s 10th arrondissement, from scratch. She cooked, served, and became part of the neighborhood.
On October 17, rioters broke in, destroyed the place, punched her in the face, and set the building on fire.
By morning her restaurant was ashes. 34 years of work, vaporized in a single night.
Obviously, Aline is an immigrant, one who went to work every day, contributed to the economy and served her community.
One of liberalism's fatal flaws is the fear of drawing distinctions. Distinctions between men and women. Distinctions between cultures. Distinctions between countries.
Because apparently noticing any differences means that you are violating your commitment to equality; it means that you are discriminating, and in the hierarchy of evils in the liberal world, there is no worse sin.
This is literally baked in to the French national motto:
Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité
Égalité means equality, specifically social or political equality.
Which means that drawing any distinctions is the same as discrimination.
But this is completely untethered from reality because these distinctions are REAL. And if you craft and enact policies that ignore these distinctions, the chickens (ok since this is France, the Gallic rooster) will come home to roost.
