Also from the Colburne in Bath. Masterful use of paint, colour and light. The hair texture (see replies) is stunning. Can't underestimate what the gold frame does for it, too. Visit and see it close up.

“In the early 2060s, the white British will become a minority within the United Kingdom,” if immigration trends continue, warns demographer @MorlandDemog.
He says Britain has changed more in his adult lifetime “than in the preceding thousand years”. In Brent, where he grew up, white Britons are now “perhaps 15% of the population”.
“This is completely unprecedented.”

Horowitz in Rehearsal at Carnegie Hall
January 7, 1965
Horowitz had not appeared in public since 1953. His great comeback concert at Carnegie Hall would be on May 9, 1965. I love this rather intimate recording of Horowitz in rehearsal at Carnegie Hall on January 7, 1965. Enjoy!

My pleasure, Ian @longitch & I'm very glad to hear that yesterday was just "complicated" rather than being problematic! Here's one that I hope you'll like this #SundayMorning: "St Mark's Church" by Harold Steggles from 1932. His view was taken from Wick Lane as you'll see.

Thank you, that is indeed an absolutely great way to close the day. Sometimes things turn out to be a little more complicated than they need to be. It’s not been bad, just complicated thanks again
"At its core, Bioleninism proposes a simple mechanism: grant symbolic or material advantage to marginalised groups, creating existential dependency on the order that empowered them."

The term bioleninsm appears to have fallen out of fashion in online right circles, but it remains a valid descriptor for obvious reasons.
🚨 “The More Dysgenic, the Better”: Beatrice Adler-Bolton Says the Left Must Give Up the “Fantasy of Being Fitter Than the Fascists”
At Socialism 2026, Adler-Bolton argues that “fitness is a measure of relative disposability under capitalism” and says the goal should not be to become “more useful to the ruling order.”
She says the left should not try to beat fascists “at their own game” by becoming “fitter, more eugenic.”
“In fact, the more dysgenic, the better, I think.”
She closes by arguing that revolution is not “a contest between optimized and properly prepared bodies” and that the very idea is itself fascist.
i never knew there was an actual term for this:
epistemic loneliness is a cognitive form of isolation that happens when you cannot share complex ideas, inner thoughts, or meaningful perspectives because you lack a willing, able, or understanding conversational partner.
