A thread 🧵
Last week I hiked the first stages of the Camino Santiago Frances route from France into Spain.
With my rural specialist hat on, it was fascinating to observe the size of farm fields with the age and size of the agricultural machinery used. 1/5
I assume that this is researched in agricultural universities, along with the think tanks influencing the policy makers that offer subsidies to farmers of all sizes. From the hike I will remember the variations I saw, and the subtle and gentle reactions they stirred in me. 🚜 5/5
Horrendous! And to have been in the front carriage of a high speed train in Spain just last weekend! This is a tragedy that is beyond comprehension.

"I definitely would be right now" - Francisco Badea Romero, engineering professor at Nebrija University

Yes Mr Blair:
Palestinians in Gaza and elsewhere need an end to genocide, Israel's militarised colonisation and apartheid.
They need respect for Intl Law and justice.
They also need no more advice from those who have profited from their misery for too long.
Be kind. Step aside
Just reflecting on today.
Two meetings in rooms with quite a few people and public speaking. No hearing loop in either.
First one, could sit in a place that meant the speakers could be heard.
Second one - microphones above, people talking quietly and impossible to hear 😭 1/2

“I don't think it is good enough for Britain. I think we can make it better.”
Andy Burnham says Britain needs an honest conversation about its relationship with the EU, arguing that the current arrangements aren't delivering what was promised.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, he called for a discussion about how to secure a better deal for the country, including practical steps to support British farmers and businesses.
Britain deserves a better relationship with Europe.

🚨 This is HUGE.
The Times reports that Britain is already holding talks with the EU about a potential return to freedom of movement and other options for much closer alignment.
The options that will eventually be put to the British public are being discussed with Brussels now, to establish what both sides could agree.
“The conversation is happening.”
The 2024 red lines of no Single Market, no customs union, no freedom of movement only apply to this Parliament.
What comes next is now being worked through.
Burnham meets EU leaders on 20 November. He says he wants Britain to rejoin the EU in his lifetime. And tonight we learn officials are already discussing the possible routes with Brussels.
This is no longer a hypothetical debate about whether Britain might one day change course.
🎉 The process of deciding how far Britain moves back towards Europe has finally begun. 🇬🇧🇪🇺

Hey Mr. President! 👋
Michigan’s elections are safe, secure, transparent, and accurate, and Michiganders still aren’t buying the conspiracies and lies you and John James love to peddle. They’ll prove it on November 3rd.
But I’m glad to hear you now know my name.
Safe flight back to Palm Beach!
