As illustrated in the Bloomberg chart below, the risk spread of investment-grade bonds has fallen to a very tight level as investors focus on a total yield that they worry will go lower in the months ahead.
This dynamic was vividly illustrated today by Meta's bond sale.
Having initially targeted $25 billion, the company easily raised $30 billion (the largest IG bond issue since 2023), taking advantage of a reported $125 billion in investor demand.

The key indicator to watch is #yield #spreads. If the current #trade war leads to a much deeper #correction, spreads will lead the way. While they have risen a bit, as would be expected given the decline, they are not blowing out yet.

A lot of talk over whether SVB "should" get a "bailout," but it's worth outlining that it might not be able to without legislation.
Crisis-fighters' authorities were curtailed following 2008. The Fed and Treasury almost certainly can't rescue SVB now. Maybeeee the FDIC...

Fed Funds Futures now pricing a terminal rates below 5% , 4.88% to be exact, was 5.08% before the CPI release. This was of course obvious, but what is not being told loud enough is the fact that the market never expected anything above 5%. Even after Powell's hawkish comments.

Those who followed closely know that I’ve been warning in credit for a few weeks now. This morning squiddy out with an alarmist warning on credit: close to a non-linear move.

One more warning won’t do anyone harm. Conditions were pretty solid for a bounce. It’s very unconvincing so far. VIX TS backwardation sticky. VIX stuck above 30. Market depth is shit. Crypto failing to gather momentum. Too many potential unwinds (SoftBank, ARKK, MSTR…)

11/n The Fed and others focus on credit for a reason. Inability to refinance debt is always the real concern. And maybe we're at the start of a credit cycle which would be very concerning if true given extended levels of debt. But the debt markets are not YET waving a red flag
