Housing, music. Pedestrian. Used to be Labour but behaviour of local councillors changed that. The worst neoliberals are those that pretend otherwise.

A hazy shade of winter. Early morning sun trying to break through the mist, as a bird soars above a moored boat on the Thames in Chiswick, with only me to see it.

You know what will help the transition to renewables more? Actually transitioning to renewables and not focussing first on keeping fossil fuel use going with a shortsighted and extremely expensive scheme to spend public money on
Carbon capture and storage will play a critical role in the energy transition, helping our industries to face the future. We are determined to make the UK a global leader in this new technology. For good jobs, energy security and climate action.

‘Mile End’, new drawing 2024. When I first saw this shop-front in 1980s, next to Guardian Angels Church, I passed it by as of no interest; now time has added an interesting patina @thegentleauthor⁩ ⁦@GrimArtGroup⁩ ⁦@ahistoryinart⁩ ⁦@PaintingsLondon⁩

Keir Starmer says that the Conservatives have produced a ‘Jeremy Corbyn style manifesto’. The Labour leader has clearly picked up some tricks from the Tory Party, mainly how to throw former colleagues under the bus

Latest government data tables for housing supply (published today) show that Enfield remains one of the worst performing boroughs in London for meeting housing targets (2019/20 - 2022/23), although not as bad as some e.g. Redbridge.

Figures out today suggest there are 1,870 Enfield families with children living in temporary accommodation. 680 social rent homes should have been built at Meridian Water by now, but only 20 have been. Not delivering has consequences. betterhomes-enfield.org/2023…

This letter from the Leader of Enfield Council doesn't mention the borough's well evidenced and urgent need for additional social rent housing. Since 2018 far more social rent homes have been demolished than built in Enfield + many remaining SR homes are uninhabitable.
The Leader of #Enfield Council has written to the government, asking for urgent action related to the ever-growing #homelessness crisis in England. Read the Leader's letter which contains suggested remedies and priorities 👉 enfield.gov.uk/news-and-even…

The Meridian Water Masterplan is a very important document for Enfield, which the Council should have published and consulted the public about, but it hasn't. This is a🧵about them kicking the can down the road and how scrutiny has been avoided... enfielddispatch.co.uk/we-nee…

There's been multiple attempts to scrutinise Meridian Water, but scrutiny has been repeatedly avoided by the promise of a masterplan which never materialises. Hundreds of millions of pounds of public money is being spent with very little oversight. This should concern us all.

The difficulties faced by these families is partly the result of Enfield Council's failure to build new social rent housing and it's failure to properly maintain the relatively small amount of social rent housing the borough has left.

"My little boy went to school and never came home again... Prime Minister, we are not a nation of motorists, we are a nation of families." An incredibly moving message projected onto the Houses of Parliament. 💔 20mph zones save lives.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone put so much emphasis, significance and passion into saying absolutely nothing.
I cannot stop watching this. It’s one of the most peculiar things I’ve ever seen, which given the venue, is really saying something. Get to the end (if you can).
