"Thames Water reveals it has been pumping sewage from a single pipe for 440 hours." Remember, this gov, at least the next 28 years, has made this legal so long as the water company can argue that they are doing something to "Reduce the adverse impacts". aol.co.uk/news/thames-water-…

People might not realise that the UK Gov passed a law in 2007 requiring ALL new homes to be zero carbon and low environmental impact by 2016. Housebuilders lobbied against this Code for Sustainable Homes and their friends in Gov scrapped it in 2015. businessgreen.com/news/30724… – at Landscove, England

What sort of city / town / village do you want to live in?
“If you invite more cars, you get more cars. If you make more streets better for cars you get more traffic...If you invite people to walk more and use public spaces more, you get more life in the city. You get what you invite.” - Jan Gehl

I am not a troublemaker. I dont want to piss anyone in the media off. But this is, as David Attenborough says, 'our biggest threat in thousands of years'. It should be front page news. Not Harry or celebrities or Rishi Sunak. EVERYTHING is at risk. youtube.com/watch?v=3D0oUrr_…

Things to leave behind in 2022: in-built obsolescence.
Externalized costs mean it is cheaper to just throw things out and replace them with new goods - this has to end. Totally unsustainable.

Want a really easy way to help tackle the climate crisis? Don’t buy peat. Unless your compost bag clearly states ‘100% peat free’ please don’t buy it. 👍🏻 Using peat causes habitat destruction & releases 800,000 tonnes of CO2 a year in the UK. @BBOWT @ActionBucks #Peat – at Buckingham, England
Will you pledge to avoid peat products in your garden? By leaving peat in our bogs, we can help tackle the nature and climate crises. Be a hero 👇 💚 #PeatTwitter wildlifetrusts.org/pledge-pe…

It’s remarkable. Harry & Megan’s woes have wall to wall attention, yet attempts to avoid the unraveling of our planet’s life support system get hardly a mention.
Absolutely mad that the world’s governments are meeting this week to negotiate how to maintain a habitable biosphere and practically no one is paying any attention.

The UK government considers mandating hydrogen-ready boilers from 2026. But they will only be zero carbon if they run on green hydrogen which currently makes up 0.04% of global hydrogen production according to the @IEA. Is it magical thinking? 🧵

Having ‘hydrogen-ready’ domestic boilers from 2026 little help in getting to zero emissions They'll only take 20% by volume of hydrogen (8% heat) and so will require being changed again - likely being 'ripped out' - by 2050 theguardian.com/environment/…

Has anything caused more damage than mass air travel? Soon to be a leading source of emissions, the water vapour created means each flight traps more than double the heat than previously thought. Not to mention the pandemics it causes. All for a luxury activity no one needs to do
