TW: sexism, ableism, sexual violence
This is one of the rawest and most transparent pieces Iâve ever written, reprocessing my childhood as a femme presenting autistic neuroqueer person.

One of the things that made me feel like I belong in the #ActuallyAutistic community was routinely seeing people asking the "am i nauseous or hungry?" question that I have always asked myself.

Paging neurodivergent academics and PhD students! My student is researching mentoring/support for neurodivergent academics and PGRs. Limited academic literature and wants to look at blogs and other pieces by neurodivergent academics/PGRs - can you recommend? #Neurodiversity

People are like 'YOU CAN'T TEACH SCHOOLKIDS ABOUT GENDER, WHAT ABOUT THE AUTISTIC KIDS IN THE CLASS, IT'S TOO COMPLICATED FOR THEM TO UNDERSTAND, IT'S NOT FAIR ON THEM,' and meanwhile 90% of my autistic friends are trans.

read a load of people losing it over the phrase âidentify as disabledâ & i have been viscerally reminded that abled people think that disabled people get told by a doctor that weâre disabled

Okay, story time. If you know why I'm telling it now, you know why I'm telling it now.
In the second grade, I needed to do a book report on John F. Kennedy. I was bored af by the president stuff but then I found out this guy survived an actual submarine sinking.

Why is the intelligence of #ActuallyAutistic people so underestimated? Is it because we ask âoddâ questions (& just generally ask questions when no one else does)? Because we sometimes donât understand a concept until we deep dive into it (& end up knowing/remembering it well)?

For those who are #ActuallyAutistic and/or have children who are. Tell me one thing I can do to help your child (or could have done to help you) feel happy at school. I will in turn share all these things with the staff at my school and become more inclusive as a result #ASD

Whenever I see people (including many Autistic people) saying things like "autism isn't a disability", it's extremely clear to me that they are centering a very narrow lived experience of autism that is heavily sheltered by privilege. [A thread]

Can we stop measuring success by our ages? Us LGBTQ+ folk can lose years to hiding who we really are. Our best years are not behind us. It's never too late to start that hobby, pursue a relationship, or even end one. Let's become the queer elders we never had

What most tr*nsphobes don't want you to know is that everyone is pretty clocky. You can look at just about anyone on the street and find 'signs' they're trans, which is the point - trans people are not functionally different to cis people

uh oh!!! i'm realizing it's gonna be hell of annoying doing press for a book about autism that is built upon a huge body of scientific evidence and novel theorizing, but which a lot of journalists will only treat as a personal story/curiosity because i'm autistic!!
