Re: You can be fat and have an eating disorder. I also want to point out that you can have an eating disorder that isn't just anorexia/bulimia. I've been force-fed my entire childhood due to a combo of my mom's narcissism and her treatment of food as comfort.
When I was underweight because of anorexia, people cheered when I gained weight in recovery, because they understood that it was saving my life. But the moment I became fat in my recovery, everything flipped.

I still sometimes feel compelled to eat everything on my plate, but I try to slow down now and actually feel what my stomach is telling me.

TW: sexism, ableism, sexual violence This is one of the rawest and most transparent pieces I’ve ever written, reprocessing my childhood as a femme presenting autistic neuroqueer person. Please “like” and “share” this with anyone who might need/relate: bbirdbphd.substack.com/p/rap…

I've had this issue of "nausea or hunger" my entire life. I actually kinda got it fixed after I realized I have POTS and the MTHFR mutation. Propranolol + L-methylfolate supplement helped me a lot!
One of the things that made me feel like I belong in the #ActuallyAutistic community was routinely seeing people asking the "am i nauseous or hungry?" question that I have always asked myself.

What if part of the reason I don't know when to talk in conversations is because I was taught for so many years that I need to raise my hand and someone will call on me? I don't need to know when someone is done talking when the teacher is controlling the whole conversation...
#AskingAutistics What are some songs that really resonate (pun intended) with your experiences as an autistic person? No wrong answers! I'll go first: "Every Single Night" by Fiona Apple "We Want a Rock" by They Might Be Giants

Does anybody have any recommendations for ways to relax as an #autistic or #neurodivergent person? My wife has been suffering with severe mental and physical fatigue from long COVID for years. #NEISvoid

Things like podcasts, TV, or music require too much attention, and reading is too much eye movement. So, preferably something that'll keep her attention but not make her "active"

Paging neurodivergent academics and PhD students! My student is researching mentoring/support for neurodivergent academics and PGRs. Limited academic literature and wants to look at blogs and other pieces by neurodivergent academics/PGRs - can you recommend? #Neurodiversity

Reminder from a neuropsychologist. When you’re down about the fact that Trauma Changes The Brain I want you to remember: SO. DOES. HEALING. SO. DOES. HEALING. SO. DOES. HEALING.

People are like 'YOU CAN'T TEACH SCHOOLKIDS ABOUT GENDER, WHAT ABOUT THE AUTISTIC KIDS IN THE CLASS, IT'S TOO COMPLICATED FOR THEM TO UNDERSTAND, IT'S NOT FAIR ON THEM,' and meanwhile 90% of my autistic friends are trans.
