Per @Liz_Friden The U.S. is sending the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit to the Middle East, two U.S. officials confirm to Fox News. The ships will arrive in the Middle East by the end of November, the officials said. These new deployments will add about 10,000 Sailors and Marines to the Middle East.
The USS Roosevelt will be the third aircraft carrier in the Middle East, joining the USS George H.W. Bush which arrived to the region in April, and the USS George Washington which arrived in mid-August to replace the USS Abraham Lincoln. This will provide more options for the U.S. as President Trump is reportedly considering ramping up strikes on Iran after the Midterms.
The USS Roosevelt departed its home port of San Diego on Sunday and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit deployed from San Diego on Monday along with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group. The Marine Expeditionary Unit and Amphibious Ready Group typically include about 4,200 Marines and Sailors. The USS Roosevelt carrier strike group includes about 6,000 Sailors.

it's been a week since Trump began targeting Ilhan Omar and, unlike the raid on Bolton last year which saw condemnations from NYT, WaPo, WSJ on Day 1, theres been zero editorials in these outlets condemning it. It also went totally unmentioned on all four Sunday shows yesterday.

⭕️ Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu displayed a map during a presentation of Israel’s national security doctrine on Sunday that places Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), an entity the UN has found to be committing genocide, like Israel, in the category “Israel and UAE consider friendly.”
In August, Africa Intelligence reported that senior RSF delegations secretly visited Tel Aviv in May 2025 and February 2026, meeting with officials from Israel’s Foreign Ministry and intelligence services.
The delegations reportedly included Abdel Rahim Hamdan Dagalo, the RSF’s deputy commander and brother of its leader, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti).
The map was created in May by Germany’s Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, a political foundation.

Chuck Schumer has yet to say a word in defense of Omar.
Me and Ilhan Omar are far apart policy wise. I’m pro life, she’s pro abortion. I’m pro 2A, she’s pro gun control. And on and on.
But can someone tell me how pretending to get ready to deport Ilhan Omar is going to bring gas down under $2, make health insurance freaking affordable, make a family’s weekly grocery bill make sense, and stop sending our beloved military off to fight for another fucking foreign war???
People are so sick and tired of the bullshit.
When you dumb mf’ers at the WH actually release the Epstein files and lock up the pedophiles and rapists you all hang out with, then we will start paying attention.
Until then 🖕.

Comptroller you should divest from the Israeli equities too. So far this year:
Israeli equities: 6.86% return
S&P 500: 12.63% return
The economic relationship between New York City and Israel is deeply important, bringing substantial investment into our city and generating strong returns for our pension funds.
Our funds invest around the world, including more than $285 million in Israel, primarily in equities. Israel remains one of the world’s most dynamic and innovative economies, and those holdings remain an important part of our portfolio. They also make clear that New York City’s pension funds are not engaging in BDS.
I expressed my deep appreciation for the Israel-NYC economic relationship during my campaign for comptroller, and that appreciation remains unchanged. I also pledged to make every investment decision free of politics, based solely on its financial merits and my fiduciary responsibility to 750,000 current and future retirees.
We apply those same principles to Israel Bonds. At present, a number of challenges, including constraints related to a rules change on our short-term investment desk made by the previous comptroller, prevent us from making direct purchases. We continue to evaluate this investment, as we do all potential investments.
Anyone suggesting that this means I am giving up on Israel is trying to turn the ordinary rebalancing and management of a pension portfolio into a political issue. That is simply not the case. Our commitment to investing in Israel remains clear in the hundreds of millions of dollars in Israeli equities that our pension funds continue to hold.
Like many Jewish New Yorkers, my deep personal connection to Israel is a part of who I am. It will not change. As New York City comptroller, I also have a solemn duty to safeguard our city’s pension funds, and I will not shirk that responsibility. I will continue to honor both commitments with integrity.

New York City still holds $285 million in Israeli investments, primarily equities. New York State Sen. Jabari Brisport highlights that these holdings have significantly underperformed the U.S. stock market this year.

With attention, rightly, focused on Sally Rooney's books being effectively banned in the UK over her support of Palestine, let's also make sure the story of two Palestinian writers being forced to choose between a major distribution of their book and telling the Palestinian story in Palestinian words is heard at least as much.
theguardian.com/books/2026/o…
This story is bigger than a book simply being cancelled.
Penguin Random House pulled Alana Hadid and Jenan Matari’s book about the Palestinian experience after clashing with them over how to tell Palestine’s story.
Apparently, even a children’s book about Palestine needs a disclaimer making sure everyone knows October 7 was illegal, while the Nakba, occupation and decades of dispossession are up for editorial debate.
Alana and Jenin eventually walked away rather than publish a version they couldn’t stand behind.
Imagine having to fight a publisher just to tell your own people’s story.
Thankfully, Palestinian-owned Interlink Books will publish it in 2027.

“Testicle completely mutilated, surgically removed” — this is from a document from Soroka Medical Center regarding a prisoner who was brought in after a “rubber bullet shooting incident.” Documents and testimony show that firing rubber bullets - including at close range and inside cells - has become common practice in the Israel Prison Service. A second prisoner underwent surgery to fix a fracture in his leg, and a third was operated on only after his release, because he was struggling to walk.

The most hilarious & revealing part of this tweet (from the brother of the guy who killed the public option!) is him saying most people want Medicare For All and then instead of him saying it’s time to get it done, he’s putting out a frantic call for alternatives. Truly perfect.
Two-thirds of Americans now say they favor Medicare for All, according to a new @KFF poll. That's the highest level KFF has recorded since it started polling the idea in 2016, up from 53 percent in 2020.
This tells me two things: Americans are fed up with rising health care costs, and no one is offering up a more realistic, more effective alternative.
You can't beat something with nothing, and right now Medicare for All is close to the only something on the table. Health policy experts need to offer something else.
What are your best ideas? (Mine are coming)
