Most founders can build. Far fewer get paid. Thursday we're asking two who did Socialpay and @MarzPay how they found their first paying customers here in Uganda. What worked. What didn't. How long it actually took. Thu 22 Oct · 7PM EAT xitter.cf/i/spaces/1DxleVavZadKL – at Kampala, Uganda

“The last mile of AI is data.” If we want AI that understands Africa, we must make African data accessible, representative, and useful. Explore and contribute to Uganda’s open data ecosystem: opendata.ug/ Let’s build with Uganda’s data, for Uganda and beyond.
Day 3 of PyCon Africa 2026 and we’re talking about the part of AI that doesn’t get enough airtime: data. 🐍📊 Roland Gafana of AI Studio gave a talk titled “The Last Mile Is Data.”

A big shout-out to @Africastalking for continuing to support the @ATWomenInTech Kampala community and creating spaces where we can learn, connect, share knowledge and grow together. 💙 The September Meetup gave us an opportunity to learn from Jennifer Mwayi’s 10+ years of experience in event management — from planning and logistics to managing people, adapting when things go wrong and turning events into memorable experiences. Thank you @Africastalking for the continued support towards tech community activities and for investing in spaces that bring people together. #BuildWithAT #WomenInTech #WeLoveNerds | @m_k_global

Huge congratulations to the following teams for emerging as the winners of the @AfricasTalking Connecting the Future hackathon at @UCUniversity, Mukono! 1. Team Gumite - IncidentBridge. A smarter network monitoring and incident response solution for fibre ISPs. Using real-time monitoring, precise fault localization, SMS technician alerts, and USSD customer status checks, they are revolutionizing network reliability! 2. Hired Mercenaries - NetDoctor. Built an AI-powered internet diagnostics and ISP customer-support solution that identifies where connectivity problems occur, explains the issue in simple language, and recommends the appropriate action. 3. Hackers 123 - SavaWatch. Built an innovative voice-based support agent designed for network operators working with legacy infrastructure and limited connectivity. #BuildWithAT #WeLoveNerds #FutureOfConnectivity

A hackathon is more than just coding— it’s about people, ideas and collaboration. From SMS, Voice and USSD and real-time dashboards, the possibilities are wide open! At @UCUniversity students and developers came together to prototype solutions for smarter, more reliable and accessible telecommunications. This is what happens when community + technology + creativity come together.

"Build something that keeps the network alive before anyone notices it was ever at risk."🌐 At the @Africastalking hackathon at @UCUniversity with @ucu_csea, Joel Matovu and Robert Mutisya from @savanna_ug challenged builders to shift from reactive ticketing to predictive anomaly detection. Inspired presentation by Savanna Fibre. #BuildWithAT #WeLoveNerds #FutureOfConnectivity

There is a difference between organising an event and creating an experience. Jennifer Mwayi's presentation was a reminder that an event shouldn't be judged only by whether the programme went according to plan. The real question is: What did people feel? What will they remember? Because people may forget individual moments from an event, but they are likely to remember how the experience made them feel. For Event Managers, the goal isn't simply to make the programme happen. It's to create an experience worth remembering. #BuildWithAT #WIT #WomenInTech
