Just a couple decades ago, public records stayed mostly private because accessing them took real effort. The Supreme Court called it "practical obscurity." The internet reduced the cost of accessing public data, and AI has made it easier still. Assembling data about almost anyone on the planet has never been easier. @GoBankYourself on how zero-knowledge cryptography can rebuild that protection by design, via @coincenter:

AIP Policy Innovation Fellow @JacobSmagula has a new piece in @tsr with Chad McElroy, arguing that the road to the asteroid belt runs through the Moon. The machines that let a crew survive at the lunar south pole (drills, excavators, smelters, solar cells made from regolith) are the same capabilities asteroid mining will demand. Using them on the Moon first means they can be tested under real operational pressure before sending them further afield to mine asteroids. Read more: thespacereview.com/article/5…

A woman going through a divorce, with a controlling husband who ran all the household finances, couldn't pull together the resources to leave until, "she discovered crypto … and made some value that she could move in a self-custody wallet without anybody tracking what she was doing. And she got out. She says literally crypto saved her life." - @LindaLacewell of @okx, on "CLARITY and Beyond," a panel at the @SALTConference moderated by our executive director @cows2crypto. "DCG did a poll earlier this year and found that 81% of voters are advocating for passage of some sort of regulatory regime. It's not just what Congress is doing, I think voters are also hoping for movement." - @julie_stitzel on the Clarity Act, last week at @SALTConference

A new @IMFNews report documents that JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup, and Wells Fargo are building a network to clear tokenized bank deposits, with final settlement happening in central bank reserves. The deposits themselves move on blockchain-based rails, but each transaction still settles in Federal Reserve money (the central bank money banks use to settle with one another). The new rails sit on top of that foundation rather than replacing it. Emerging technology is fundamentally upgrading how finance happens behind the scenes. In 2025 @HyperliquidX, a fully onchain derivatives exchange, cleared roughly $2.9 trillion in trades and $873 million in revenue, with monthly perpetuals volume near 17% of Binance's. It is one of the largest derivatives markets in the world, and US traders can't access it. Education is key in helping policymakers develop new rules for the new realities of emerging technologies. Busy trip to DC with @BlockchainAssn and @fund_defi. There’s still a little wood to chop and not a lot of daylight to do it, but have confidence in and respect for the Hill staffers who have poured the better part of a decade in getting CLARITY to where it is. @SenLummis is a cattle herder and I look forward to her bringing the them home over the next three weeks. CLARITY introduces important protections for consumers and builders, replacing a complicated, ill-fitting and patchwork series of regulation with comprehensive rules that will guide global regulation and promote responsible innovation. You work hard for good bills because perfect bills are not possible. This is a good bill and the Senate must vote Yes. Happy 50th Bday to @ChairmanHeath and 1st to the GENIUS Act. Great party @circle. And Kudos to @glzavatone and @cows2crypto for outstanding @defenddevspac and @AIPLeads events.

Anyone can now independently verify that @okx holds more than it owes. Its 44th consecutive monthly Proof of Reserves reports $22.65B in primary assets, backed by an open-source zero-knowledge proof (zk-STARK) that any user can run against the code posted on GitHub. For a policymaker, that changes what solvency oversight can look like. Instead of waiting on quarterly filings or an examiner's word, a customer can confirm their funds are fully backed today, using math anyone can check. That kind of continuous, provable transparency is exactly what consumer-protection and custody rules are trying to achieve. AIP works to help lawmakers understand how these types of innovations can help improve consumer transparency. See it yourself, via @okx: okx.com/en-us/proof-of-reser…

When a company issues a digital dollar, or stablecoin, how far should its legal responsibility stretch? That question sits at the center of a June 2026 comment @HyperliquidPC and @paradigm filed with the Treasury Department on a proposed rule for these coins. When you open an account at a bank, they verify your identity. But after you open the account, the bank does not follow the cash once you withdraw it from an ATM. The two firms argue a stablecoin issuer should be treated the same way: responsible for who it hands the coin to, not for every stranger who trades it afterward. These are exactly the questions lawmakers now face, and AIP aims to help them understand the technology so their rules are well-informed and keep the US leading in innovation. The comment, from @HyperliquidPC: hyperliquidpolicy.org/blog/h…

More than 140,000 wallets have now traded tokenized securities through @Uniswap . To put that in context: over $9.1 billion swapped in real-world asset pools across more than 2.6 million transactions, with tokenized shares of companies like SpaceX, Apple, and NVIDIA in the mix. A market this size is forming while the rules that will govern it are still being written, and the people writing them deserve a clear view of what's already happening on the ground. That's the gap AIP works to close. Full details here from @Uniswap: blog.uniswap.org/tokenized-s…

Government procurement fraud costs taxpayers billions annually. According to @coinbase, a World Economic Forum study found that blockchain-based procurement systems could cut costs by 6-10% through better competition and reduced fraud. The savings come from transparency: when every bid, award, and contract modification lives on an immutable ledger, bad actors have fewer places to hide. And more vendors compete when they trust the process is fair. AIP exists to help policymakers understand how tools like this can improve good governance in the US. 18% of Americans have used crypto. 50% are more concerned than excited about AI. The gap between what technology can do and what people understand about it is real, and it shapes how Congress writes rules. AIP is here to help close that gap. Read more about what we do: americaninnovationproject.or…
