#newprofilepicture for mexico🇲🇽!! one of my fav moments from last year. lando’s phenomenal performance in mexico brought us back into the championship lead, making it even more special. it will always have a place in my heart! as always, more luck and better chances⭐️
#newprofilepicture for cota!!! this triple header was a horror show, idk what else to say other than we’re moving on and better days are coming 🍀 cota is such a cool track and i love the races there, so hopefully we get a good one! but most importantly, we got this 🫂🫂

I think what Piastri managed to do with a dominant car that suited him is even more hilarious

incredible how lando has been involved in team orders for a race win twice in his career and both times it was HIM SLOWING DOWN/giving up the position, yet the narrative the last few years was how he’s the one who needs team orders for any achievement

andrea stella about lando's performance: “that was one of the best performances i’ve ever seen and witnessed firsthand from a racing driver,” “we didn’t think so many overtakes were possible on this track. lando was fast, looked after his tyres well, and kept his engine and brake temperatures under control. his drive reminds me of fernando’s in valencia in 2012.”

hinchcliffe praises lando’s smart, well timed overtake on daniel ricciardo, highlighting how he managed his braking to get alongside him while relying on daniel to leave enough space. he also compliments daniel’s awareness and fair racing, showing that it was a great move from lando and excellent defensive awareness from daniel

mexico 23 is one of landos underrated races. after a qualifying blunder by both driver and team left him starting 17th, he fought his way up to 8th before a red flag and badly timed pit stop cost him positions, but he recovered brilliantly from 14th to finish 5th, overtaking eight drivers in the final 35 laps. he described it as “one of the best stints i’ve probably had ever,” praising the amazing pace, good overtakes, and hard racing

mind you, people built kylian’s entire image around those dictator memes despite him making it clear that he dislikes them cus of the political ignorance behind so it’s just ridiculous that he’s still the one getting blamed for this whole situation lmao

him saying that Lando’s superpower is “being very adaptive to the conditions” in contrast to “to build” once again shows his base level for Lando is to perform on 10/10 level everywhere all the time. this superpower has much less leeway than “sorry guys can’t build it’s low grip”
andrea stella explains why mclaren had already discussed a potential driver swap before the cota race: "we had seen during the weekend that lando was a little bit faster than oscar. this is a track in which lando excels and is one of the tracks in which oscar instead struggles a little bit more. so this year i think in particular for oscar is tricky because oscar’s superpower is to build, once he creates references he can really effectively build lap after lap. but here, every lap is different. so these are the conditions that challenge oscar. and actually are the conditions where lando uses his own superpower which is being very adaptive to the conditions especially as the car slides. so given this context we discussed before the race that if lando was behind oscar and oscar could not keep up with the cars ahead then we could have given lando a chance or an opportunity to see if we could attack the cars ahead, and that’s what we did. it’s a way of demonstrating that as a team and together with the drivers we care about the interest of the team which was always the conversation that we have had. and especially after singapore, we reinforced how much it’s important that we all together help mclaren go back to the position that we want to have, which is oscar and lando first row in qualifying, and fighting for the win. and then we manage the internal competition. but up to then, all together we need to sustain the trajectory of mclaren back to the front." i don’t understand how people interpret that as cockiness or being spoiled when it’s quite the opposite. he is allowing himself to be vulnerable instead of pretending that success has made him immune to the things everyone experiences.

he does this without disregarding his privilege. he can acknowledge the stress, the overthinking, the loneliness and the imposter syndrome while still being proud of himself, confident in his abilities and grateful for the opportunities he’s been given. he never has to deny one part of his experience to validate another.

lando will always be someone who shows that vulnerability and normalcy can coexist with success. it takes courage to admit that, despite everything you’ve achieved, you still experience the most ordinary human emotions. no matter how many dreams you accomplish, you don’t suddenly stop feeling these things. you can be incredibly happy with where you are in life and still experience everything that comes with being human
"are you happy?" lando: "oh, you don't want to go there. it's just a very hard one to answer. i should just answer it yes, but it's never that simple for me. so i am happy. i'm still reigning world champion for now. i'm going to make the most of it. it could only last this weekend, you know! i'm happy. i'm enjoying it. yes, i'm not fighting for a world championship this year but i'm still living the dream of so many and i work with such amazing people. i get to take my friends around the world with me. i get to do so many things i love. easy answer. i'm happy" ❤️❤️
