10 years into PFF grades being debated and somehow the public still hasn't grasped their grades don't come from box score production.
I know via our data @FantasyPtsData vs the blitz Keenum had a TWT to Andrew Makuba. He also fumbled on a scramble.
Maybe that has something to do with it?

Too much “17th pick isn’t worth what Kwesi paid” not enough “Dallas Turner is actually a top 10 talent.” Grade the value of the player, not the arbitrary pick number.
Also, fuck them picks! Get your stud. Rinse, wash, repeat.

This should be the standard camera angle for NFL games. Who decided seeing what’s happening downfield isn’t important to a football game?

When is the last time a schemeless head coach with no playcalling experience genuinely excelled? Hint: Dan Campbell is not an acceptable answer.
Glorified cheerleaders are not elite head coaches. Delegating one side of the ball is fine, but too much delegation is a problem.

🚀🏈 Top 5 Big Boy Throws of the Week 🧵
5. Bryce Young 49 YIA to Coker. Liz C3 fire zone. Off PA, Young peaks and sees field S rotate down and boundary S rotate to deep mid, meaning no help on vertical to boundary. Throws receiver open with perfect touch over the WR's shoulder

I am not a PFF apologist, but I have looked at their grades for a long time and I think most of the criticism misses the mark. Generally people do not understand how these are graded or what is and is not accounted for. The real friction is in the scaling and conversion, not the concept.
The bigger issue is people throw out all the good because of one outlier that looks off. Every grading system has flaws and outliers. That does not discredit the whole thing.
I thought the Bears offense was outstanding and Caleb's grade was low relative to where PFF had him. But there were also plays where he made a poor decision that turned into a good result. The downfield ball to Odunze is the perfect example. Odunze was wide open with no defender within 15 yards for a couple seconds. By the time the throw actually came out, he was covered, and he made a great contested catch. To the average viewer that is a great play made by the QB. In reality that is Odunze bailing out the throw.
And I think that this is the part people tend to miss. Not grading the result is the entire point. It is not a flaw. The result is not always what the QB controlled.
The way I approach betting this sport is you leave the ego aside and process as much information as possible. Some people are just threatened by spreadsheets. PFF is better at some positions than others and it is not perfect, but the discourse is always one person mad about one grade, used to torch the entire system. I think that's lazy. I think it's more important to understand the limitations and work from there.

PFF credits all Browns offensive linemen with allowing ZERO sacks. Deshaun Watson was sacked 5 times, which means PFF is attributing all 5 sacks to the quarterback.

In honor of Kyler being named the starter, here's one of my favorite throws of his career. 2 high pre-snap, rotates into Cover 1. Wilson has a quarter step on Woolen's outside leverage on the inside release 7 route. Sideline isn't available, so Kyler creates his own window with impeccable touch leading Wilson downfield and dropping the ball in over his shoulder, both away from the safety and over Woolen.
WOW. Bo Nix outshines Drake Maye and Caleb Williams in wins, TDs, and passing Yards in his first two seasons 🏈

Every pre-draft cycle the same RB cliché shows up: "He forces a ton of missed tackles, that'll translate to the next level."
I figured I'd actually test it. How much does college elusiveness predict NFL production?
This is a phenomenal thread for RBs that translates to CFF too. If you’re trying to analyze CFF RBs, start with Elusiveness and Yards After Contact per Attempt.
There are exceptions, but they have an elite trait like Jackson said.
Thanks for doing this research, Jackson.
